I don't need an analysis, but there is no need to reinvent the wheel either. By the time I'd stumbled onto the bias chart, I'd already stopped going to a lot of the site on either side they call low quality. Breitbart for instance and Occupy Democrats. I'll still go to them occasionally especially if they are breaking a story, but as noted, they don't do a lot of original reporting - they do analysis of other peoples stories.
Trust your gut - Sometimes that gut feeling is just cognitive dissonance - the feeling you are confronted with when something contradicts an existing belief. So, sometimes my gut says sets off an alarm and I reflect on why my gut is sending an alarm - what's the problem. Sometimes its something inconsistent in the story, and sometimes its just something I didn't want to hear.
Mainstream media right, left, center hardly ever lies. And before Trump that was pretty much accepted. News is reported by people and they do have biases, as all people do. But media outlets are in competition and if they lie the other outlets will pounce. Its the nature of the beast. That isn't to say they are never wrong, but the main way even the less trustworthy media manipulates is by being vague or leaving out facts.
Things that set off my gut are mixing percentages and numbers to make a number seem larger or smaller than it is. Mixing terms "climate scientists" and "scientists". People try not to outright lie and being on the lookout for how they can mislead without lying is key.
