If I was in charge, you can bet I'd have funded gain-of-function research. It'd suck to be blindsided by a sudden outbreak of a virus we all thought would probably never make the jump to humans.

It'd also really suck if the lab running those experiments didn't follow requisite safety protocols...oh wait.

Make no mistake Covid was Designed by a State Run Governement to do EXACTLY what it is doing. These things are MADE for a purpose.

China had nothing to gain, and almost everything to lose, with the release of COVID. I don't think any world government has benefited from the pandemic except possibly Russia, since it's been able to do a bit of relations-building by exporting its vaccine. That's an exception, not the rule though.
