There absolutely was a kerfuffle over this, but, turns out, you can't really tell Iron Maiden fans to take disgust at something like that.

Kathy Griffin's only real mistake was that she spent her career pursuing a safe, family-toned audience. Surprise, turns out they're really fragile when it comes to political controversy.

I watch very little TV anyway. But if you're their target audience these days, good luck with your intolerance for the First Amendment when you're exposed to one of these 70s shows. They actually made fun of bigotry in episodic scripts that included stereotypical characters and uncomfortable topics to demonstrate and teach how ridiculous racism and religious intolerance is. Only comedically. These old shows were successful because they were funny, but they also taught social respect.

If you don't even watch TV then why would you EVER expect them to pander to YOU?????????!!!

TV panders to all types of people. Young and old. You choose to watch what you want, and I choose to watch what I want. I don't understand your bitterness toward me and my meme. Media evolves. TV and music and technology evolve. Why not just respect or at least ignore the opinions of people who have a different opinion of such insignificant things like which television shows somebody likes? Aren't there more important issues to get so upset about?

No! It doesn't! This really shouldn't be news to you: TV writes shows for people who do or are likely to watch it.

NOBODY produces TV shows for people who DON'T watch TV. TV is too expensive to make for that kind of nonsense.

Just because I personally choose not to watch most of what is on TV these days doesn't mean that other people of my demographic don't. That was my own personal opinion. Why do TV ads direct their ads to specific age groups? It's because many people of my age watch TV. Most people do. And that's why TV shows and commercials are directed/created to reach out to all demographics. It seems to me that you want to perpetuate an argument that doesn't really need to exist. To address your last statement, I think I just addressed it.

No no, it does. It might not be to do with your age. It might be to do with other demographic variables, such as, to pick one at random, your political sensibilities, but there's definitely something about you that even I can tell it would be a waste of time producing TV shows for you.

I don't even know how old you are, but I do know that your original complaint was that TV has gotten too safe and non- offensive; this is nonsense, and if you bothered to watch TV, you'd find it more provocative than ever. And some mysteries solve themselves, right? If I were a TV executive fielding your complaint, I'd say "well, to be honest, it looks like this person just wants to watch reruns of Mork and Mindy followed by The Jefferson's. They wouldn't watch anything we made for them even if we did. Don't waste our budget on that, try to get another season of It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia renewed instead."
