Joe gives nothing of his, he gives our money.

This seems to be suggesting our tax dollars are our money but his tax dollars are not his..

I don't know what calculator you're using, but by my math, a 10% boost to the housing budget of the Department of Veterans Affairs is a LOT more than a dime.

And I do mean a LOT more.

You have no clue what you’re talking about. I use VA benefits. I’m retired with 22 years TIS. The budget increase was to cover the cost of us going to private doctors - something Trump did. Moreover, the 10% increase was mandatory, not discretionary.

Check out darko_yolo's comment below that uses actual budget numbers to directly refute your central claim here. The budget increase definitely included their housing wing, and while that might not necessarily have benefitted you personally, it is flat-out incorrect to say that it did nothing to fight veteran homelessness.

Veterans Housing Program starts at page 103 and goes on to page 120.

Lmfao. That’s to purchase a home via a VA home loan. Here in California we have two choices: VA Home loans or a Cal Vet loan. Those are programs we are offered to purchase a home outside of normal bank lenders. This has nothing, zero, nada, zilch, to do with homelessness 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

How libs think that it works!

Indeed, you'll see those programs mentioned in the President's budget proposal for 2022. Note that HUD-VASH is more directly what you're getting at, although ALL of this is to do with veteran housing one way or another.

That’s not how it works. The VA funds programs. I am literally a certified VA housing counselor. We refer people to organizations that can provide them with vouchers.

Wrong again. None of this goes towards homelessness. This goes to programs to help out. Even the voucher programs. You can’t call up the VA and get money because you are homeless. If that were the case, there’d be no homeless veterans.

I think "homeless" was a clue.

....What do you think the housing budget of the VA is for, exactly??

Got a link? Seriously, I'd like to know which specific program or programs you're referring to.

The only "housing" that I saw was when I was on active duty was base housing, and it cost the individual servicemember and their family a pretty penny (I don't know how or if that compares to a dime).

Veterans (who fall under the VA) aren't really eligible for "housing", except for the above mentioned base housing which involves being the lowest priority on a long waiting list and, if and when you do get a home, a hefty monthly rent. Rent is usually not as high as housing costs in the surrounding civilian communities, but still not free by any means. Even then, not all veterans are eligible for this, typically disabled vets and retirees.

There is also a "housing allowance" offered to those that are going to school on the Post 9-11 GI Bill. It is equivalent to the allowance that an E5 would get. Not a fortune, but it helped pay the bills.

Looking forward to that link. Never pass up an opportunity to school an old Marine conservative SOB.

Couple things I found regarding funds and whatnot to help homeless veterans... (taken from President Biden's American Rescue Plan proposed on day one and signed into law a few months ago.)

$14.5 billion for COVID-19 related health care, as well as resources for Veterans currently receiving housing support and an estimated 37,000 homeless Veterans.

$750 million for both construction grants ($500 million) and payments ($250 million) to State Homes to greatly improve the living conditions of our most vulnerable Veterans who reside in these facilities.

$386 million to initiate a COVID–19 Veteran Rapid Retraining Assistance Program that provides up to 12 months of training and employment assistance for unemployed Veterans to enter high demand occupations.

$262 million to reduce the backlog of compensation and pension claims, which has grown from 76,000 in March 2020 to more than 212,000 in March 2021. The ARP funding will enable the Veterans Benefits Administration to reduce the claims backlog to around 100,000 by September 2022.

Thanks. Nice try.

I see health care, retraining, compensation and pension? They all sound like "catch all" bills where we can say "Wow, look at the great shit we're doing for veterans, surely somehow it will solve the homeless veteran problem."

If Biden introduced a bill to give every veteran a free 75 inch flat screen TV liberals would say "That right there is going to help end the homeless veteran problem."

"Catch all" or not, all of those things could be beneficial for homeless veterans.

The end of your comment there sounds like a strawman... I'm not sure who would think or say televisions = the end of homelessness..(?)

Meanwhile President Joe Biden literally spent millions dollars to help veterans and people are claiming he isn't spending a dime..

$500 million specifically for construction grants for State Homes.. fake news?
