The difference is, she's not doubting the science, she's just being overly cautious.

People who were banned were trying to convince everybody else to do what they were doing by spreading false claims.

CDC: Wear a lifejacket in these situations.
AOC: I'm going to wear one more often.
MTG: life jackets cause erectile disfunction in men and lycanthropy in women.

And banning people questioning if the holocough came out of a Wuhan lab???

If that happened, that was obviously wrong.

That said there is a difference between - are we sure it didn't come from a lab? and it was designed by dr fauci with help from Bill Gates in order to topple Trump.

Yeah, it happened. You haven't been following along at all these past years, huh?

Strawman noted.

I've seen stuff flagged, I've heard of posts being deleted, I've heard of accounts being temporarily suspended or prevented from posting. But you specifically said people were banned. I was unaware of that, and remain doubtful.

Well they would cause that in men if they were in really cold water.

I've been shouted down as an anti-vaxxer, anti-science QAnon conspiracy theorist, and a racist (not sure how that last one is connected, but it was entertaining) purely because I am remaining overly cautious with the COVID vaccine and refusing to get it for another year or so while more long-term data regarding its safety is brought to bear. I've no issue whatsoever with vaccines and have received more than a dozen (outside of flu shots) over the course of my life. People will call you what they want no matter how you actually feel about something.

It's not really shocking that she's being shouted down, though I admit I find it somewhat confusing; if she and everyone with whom she has contact have been vaccinated or are fine not receiving the shot then it seems rather nonsensical to wear a mask. That's my opinion though.

The link to racism isn't obvious to me either. Honestly, I can understand being hesitant. If my wife wasn't high risk and I wasn't a little overweight I'd probably have tried to wait a bit too. Nobody wants to go first. But I think we are past that.

I will say, I have a friend who's a nurse who posted the other day that her entire doctors office plans to keep mask requirements in place indefinitely. They had a meeting and discussed and apparently nobody in her office got sick all year. That is apparently amazing.

Nonsensical to wear a mask...IDK. Nothing is 100%. There are variants cropping up and while the vaccines have thus far been effective, that might change. I've honestly gotten used to wearing a mask. I shave less now.

There was no link to racism, it was just some angry idiot who couldn't understand that I would rather take my chances with COVID while waiting for more data on the vaccine...as you say, we've all gotten used to wearing masks and I for one am perfectly happy to keep doing so for a while longer. Much easier to do that than get a shot that makes me apprehensive because it is relatively unproven in terms of safety.

Even if you don't get one, you should read up on how they did it. It was pretty amazing. This is pretty much the fastest the human race as been able to create a vaccine. Part of it was how much genetic similarity it had to other COVID strains.

The mRNA vaccine approach used by Pfizer and Moderna is just beautiful.

They pretty much just made a batch of the part of the virus that makes it contagious, but only that part so you aren't actually injected with COVID, just that piece.

So now if you are exposed to COVID, your body recognizes and produces antibodies based on that piece. In theory, if the virus were to mutate and that bit were to change, it would almost certainly become less infections.

It is such a neat way of addressing the problem.

Oh I have been keeping tabs on how the vax progressed (it was the highlight of last year, after all). Very interesting and impressive success on the part of science. It's just that same rapidity that has me somewhat on edge, and why I'd rather we get more data before yours truly gets a jab he likely doesn't need.

Science is fascinating though. Very very neat stuff, even if I don't understand half of the technical terminology. I'm a history buff myself.

Wearing a mask is okay even if you have a vaccine. It's not wearing a mask that's the problem. Ugh.

She should be wearing a snaffle bit. Or a feed bag.
