My dad switched parties in the 50's before I was born.
Lets look at this logically. What was happening in the 50's, 60's, 70's and 80's that cause people a lot of concern that had nothing to do with race? I know it is hard for a leftist to think outside of racial terms but try just for a minute. This had nothing to do with Malcolm X, Martin Luther King, or any other black person. It had nothing to do with civil rights.
What was going on around this time that had people concerned? I'll wait.
Here is a clue. Did people in the 50's and 60's build bomb shelters to A) keep away from black people or B) because of the Soviet Union or C) because it was fun?
Ohhhhhhhh sorry it was not A. It wasn't C either. Remember I said to try your best to think outside of racial terms.
Question 2. Which party had more in common with communism? Was it A) the Whig Party, B) the Libertarian Party, C) the Democrat Party, D) the Republican party or E) the Racism Party.
Ohhhhhh wrong again. it was NOT E because there is n Racism Party. The answer is C the Democrat Party. How do I know this. Well a whole lot of people saw it. Ayn Rand wrote several novels because she had escaped from the Soviet Union and saw it happening here, in the Democrat party. Tons of Cuban refugees also see in the Democrat party.
My dad and I agreed pretty much on everything politically and we both are anti-communist. But my dad who was born and raised in the South was a Democrat. Because EVERYONE in the South (except for blacks) were Democrats. When my dad recognized that the Democrat party was looking more like the Soviet Union he felt it was time that he needed to make a change. So he left the party of Slavery and joined with all of the Southern blacks in the Republican party.
