Classical liberals have much more in common with today's Libertarians than any other political group. The next closest to classical liberalism are the conservatives.

The alleged switch your talking about is supposedly based on race. But seriously, the party that was formed specifically to free the slaves all of the sudden attracted a ton of racists. ESPECIALLY when blacks were ALL Republican back then.

No. That doesn't add up. Racists don't want to be in the same party as black. Especially when a very vocal and prominent black, Martin Luther King Jr, was a member of that party. Yes, MLK was a Republican until he was persuaded to become a Democrat by Kennedy.

And that's when he switched. That's when the great switch happened. You proved your own point.

The myth is that the switch happened in the 60's and 70's and it was based on racism. I am saying that the switch happened around the turn of the 20th century. Late 1800's and early 1900's. And the switch was so the Progressives could hid their true self's because prior to that America prided itself on being classically liberal. The parties were never divided on the classical liberal vs classical conservative lines. They were all classically liberal.

But the Progressives were not. They never were classically liberal but they wanted to appear that way so they ruined the meaning of the word so they could hide behind it. Socialism, communism, fascism, Nazism, Marxism, whatever were NEVER about the freedom of the individual. They are about the collective. The individual is expendable.

I didn't point this out before, but Classic Conservatives are against rapid societal change, against progressiveness. Back when we were talking, this was the era of monarchs and them controlling big government. Nowadays, Conservatives are the small government type, because of the former Liberal nature of the US and the tiny government.

My dad and I agreed pretty much on everything politically and we both are anti-communist. But my dad who was born and raised in the South was a Democrat. Because EVERYONE in the South (except for blacks) were Democrats. When my dad recognized that the Democrat party was looking more like the Soviet Union he felt it was time that he needed to make a change. So he left the party of Slavery and joined with all of the Southern blacks in the Republican party.
