Saw it as such a threat, he signed deals with them to make TVs in a wisconsin factory. $600million in tax payer money to China later, and not a single TV has been made, yet. Read Foxconn Wisconsin when you have a hot minute. Thay is what Trumpy thought of china. Poor silly bastards, keep listening to trumpy.

Ron White | HOLD UP,YOU REALLY BELIEVE THAT? HAVE YOU SEEN TRUMPS RECORD WITH RUSSIA? | image tagged in ron white | made w/ Imgflip meme maker
sure,in the beginning of his term he was absolutely trying to normalize relations.
which, when you think about normalizing relations with a NUCLEAR POWER,it kinda makes sense.see:north korea ..and then the consequent media blowback.

but then he was systematically brow-beaten by the neo-cons in our legislature, war hawks in the DOD and by the more "left leaning" media..
rachel maddow and her "russiagate" crusade.

do i REALLY have to point out that trumps policies in Ukraine ALONE.helped strain relations with russia?

trump was 100% correct in pointing out that china is our one and only threat.
now to be clear, that threat is to our empire and our global reach in both finance, markets and trade routes, but they are a threat.

but most americans don't want to hear that we are empire.
makes them feel icky, and it kinda destroys the "good guy" narrative we are all fed.

Chechnya and Crimea alone do more than enough to blow a hole in your theory that China's the only threat to the international scene. It may not be 1947 anymore but if we write off East Europe completely, whether you want to talk in terms of the global neocolonial empire OR in terms of the development of stable allies of free societies, either way, that's going to bite us in the ass in the future.

you win the semantics war antithesis...

i give up..

now as for the REST of your assertions...
let's just say that you have far more faith in the power, might and influence of the late great soviet union than i.

unless you consider a country with the slightly better gdp then mexico ,and spends less than a 1/10th than the US on military operations to be a real and consequential threat to this worlds true empire.

not to mention the delicious....irony....of your comment.

long live the american empire, and death to her enemies.

Well, faith in their power to do what? Invade and occupy Congress? No, they don't have... well... bad example.

But to commit a genocide in Estonia? Absolutely. If nobody in the International Community stops them. Estonia's GDP is even worse than Mexico's by many orders of magnitude. And how do you think that's going to affect US politics when refugees from Estonia start turning up over here?

So, faith in their former superpower status, no. Faith in their power to cause us trouble anyway, yeah, absolutely. Of course. Russia doesn't kid around.

that i agree with.

kinda like the US in syria right?

thank god that international community stepped and stopped us.

oh wait....

aaaand now i am just being a snarky dickhead.i get ya,
russia may be diminished, but they still are a player.
we shouldn't forget that.

Hey, you KNOW I'll have that conversation about the US being the world's most succesful rogue state anytime.

I wasn't trying to downplay the threat we make. But the conversation was about the threat Russia makes.

how about when Putin was in the OVAL office, no other US personnel were allowed during this conversation and Russia leaked what they talked about- recall that? PUTIN IN THE OVAL OFFICE!@

How about the tRUMP tower Russia- where he offered Vlad the Penthouse and Putin said, i have all the money i need.

How about the bounty on US service men- it was a one sided love affair for sure. Putin used Melania like the WH h0re she was.

show me the proof?
all of Clumps family products, and dont forget about those 13 patents that were RUSHED through for Ivanka, all were from CHINA. Those are facts, you can query them to see for yourself.

...aaaaaand since Russia is also a threat, who are we going to have closer ties with to contain them as well?
3 ups, 5y,

Trump originally saw potential mutual benefit in closer ties to Russia. Russia could enormously benefit ecomomically from closer ties to the US, and that benefit would not only help contain China but would also help reduce the Russian threat. Unfortunately, the globalist establishment was not ready to give up their old boogeyman.

Well by THAT logic, why don't we just cut out the middle man by closing ties with China, helping THEM prosper, and then their threat will magically reduce THAT way?

Why does China need to be contained by diplomatic flanking but Russia can be trusted to play nice all by themselves if we just play nice with them first, honest pinky swearsies???!!

Because the Russian economy sucks and struggles to remain relevant in the 21st century. Their military is aging and they're struggling to keep it up to date. They are a has been superpower. China is an economic power and they are growing instead of fading. Russia remains relevant only because of its nukes, really.

OK. Then what makes you think that China would ever give a rat's ass that we're getting Russia into our corner?

Especially when it means pushing our NATO allies OUT of our corner! And NATO countries are much more economicly viable, much more technologically relevant, and much more militaristically important than Russia could ever be. Why would China see that as anything other than a DROP in pressure against them, not an increase?

But even ignoring NATO for now, because I already know you don't like them - even if we're just gaining Russia on our side, if Russia is so weak then why is it so important to you to get them on our side?

Since Putin has decided he will be President for 28 years, i think he can be trusted. You know Clumpy Clown is envious of that absolute power.
