that's not how it works... you see, good gun owners who AREN'T criminals have their guns registered, while the criminals DON'T have their guns registered. They're gonna take away the legal guns and leave guns to the criminals...

No they're not taking away your guns. Go actually read about it.

Sure they just want to make it absurdly difficult to get new ones and want us to pay them registration fees for guns we paid for years ago... or they'll take our guns away

If you'd find it absurdly difficult to pass a simple background check, you shouldn't be owning a gun.
0 ups, 3y
The background check is not what I am talking about. I'm talking about excessive taxes and requiring NFA approval(which can take a year or more) for one of the most common rifles in the country. Ones we already passed our background checks for.

If liberals didn’t have double standards they wouldn’t have any standards at all.

Mitch Mcconnel was paid $50M by rich corporations to support voter suppression, but when other corporations were anti-voter suppression he threatened them and said there would be "consequences" if corporations interfered with politics. Double standards much?

Last time we tried changing an amendment, IT DID NOT GO WELL AT ALL.

the prohibition of alcohol, it only lasted 13 years, then it changed. Imagine now, it can be longer or shorter

In other words, the change to the amendment worked.

And met with mass protests after, which failed. They had to repeal the damn prohibition, which means that the constitution is inamendable.
1 up, 3y
That is some awfully flawed logic.

First off, using the example of prohibition not only proves that the constitution is actually amendable, but that amendments can be repealed.

Secondly, the constitution has been amended six times since the repeal of prohibition.

So, your argument that it “DID NOT GO WELL AT ALL,” and your conclusion that the constitution is “inamendable,” is quite erroneous.

If no amendment is absolute, does that mean government can prohibit free speech (amendment 1), allow slavery and involuntary servitude (amendment 13), discriminate against voters based on race (amendment 15), discriminate against voters based on gender (amendment 19), allow a president to serve more than two terms (amendment 22), prohibit alcohol (amendments 18, 21), or can Congress grant itself a raise at immediate notice (amendment 27)?

How about the original constitution? Is the legislative power still vested in Congress, or in the Supreme Court? Or can the president act as both legislative and judicial?

What Biden is talking about is not just the second amendment. It is about tyranny.

No amendment is absolute. There are varying interpretations of meaning, and any one can be removed or made obsolete through the amendment process.
