I believe this is a very complicated topic that cannot be explained over the internet.
Yes I believe G-d exists, and now I have a question for you. How can you NOT believe in G-d or any god.
You don’t have anyone to turn to when your life is at it’s worst point, you don’t have anyone to be assured is taking care of you, and you don’t have anyone to thank when you get lucky or when you get what you really wanted.
How can someone live without knowing someone else is taking care of them, someone to cry to that won’t judge them, someone who knows that what they’re going through is what they can do with a little effort.
I don’t understand hw someone could live so disconnected.
Perhaps you don’t believe in G-d, but how can you survive and stay sane without having someone to turn to who will keep all your secrets, and show you the right path.
You don’t need to answer this. I just had this question on my mind and needed to get it out.
I’ll say it once more in simpler terms
If your father went to jail for something he didn’t do, and the whole world is against you, who do you turn to. When not a single person is on your side, how do you stay sane.

Thank you for reading till the end. Have a nice day

One question.
Each religion tells that G-d spoke to them individually and told them to speak to everyone else right? Jesus, Muhammad, etc.
what about the Jews? They had thousands of people present when they got their bible. How can you disprove that?
In those times, everyone knew about the great flood because the world was evil. Everyone knew about the splitting of the sea, and everyone knew about the plagues on the Egyptians. When did that get lost in history? When did people stop believeing in their ancestors? Are people so narrow minded they can’t even look to their predecessors and focus only on the here and now?
And by the way, you never answered my question.

some of those natural disasters were real, others misspoken or misunderstood. bibles were not written by god, they were written by men. to answer your original question, i can thank god on occasion, ask god for help in a pinch, appreciate the concept of hope and higher powers above me. but those higher powers that i don't control but control me are time and nature, not god. if you choose to thank a man in a robe or a prophet, go rite ahead.

it was anciet misconseption most likely and they had no idea what it was so they made up a story about a god one with mighty power to solve mysteries of the ancient time but now we know it is just physics and the earths atmosphere

Long story short: Apparently God spoke to them (not confirmed) as to what to write (in the early books in testament)

So you can laugh at G-d and belittle Him, but still turn to him? How does that make sense?
You tell me you dont believe but then turn around and say you ask Him stuff.
I dont worship a man, I dont worship a prophet. I worship the one who instructs them. I dont bow to a man, I bow to G-d who made me and has my best interests at heart.

i don't belittle god. i belittle his followers. you abuse god when all you do is depend on him for everything, credit him for everything, look to him for everything, blame him for everything. followers need to start thinking and learn the outside world of science, history, math and reality. then when they are enriched by the real world, they can honor and use god for the things remaining - thanking nature, time and luck.

Abuse? Abuse?
I don't agree with that at all
You claim G-d isn't even real
So how can you begin to understand when you dont believe in it
I understand now that you dont want real answers, you just want to twist them into your own image.
Please do not use my words in a way you know they were not meant to be understood

I appreciate this conversation not getting out of hand, but I'm going to end it now.
Have a nice day/night

i don't abuse god. but many people who believe in god do. god should be treated like an addictive drug that has limited benefits. it should only be used when necessary, not depended on, not forced onto others.

I'm a atheist and you do not know how many times people have came up to me and said "you don't believe in god your going to hell!" Thank you for saying not to press it onto people.
1 up, 3y
im a christian who doesnt believe u will go to hell for believing what u believe. if he truly loves all, and he has a plan for your life, then tecnically u would be planned to be an atheist tho. other christians should think about it that way tbh. But even if people think that atheists go to heck they shouldnt just go up to people and say that. its kinda rude.

Im jewish and I have never once said or thought something like that.
I respect other peoples beliefs, I just happen to have different ones.
I think a big difference between jews and christians is that jews like to keep their own bubble, they try not to recruit people. In fact, they're supposed to push a potential convert away 3 times while explaining all the laws and things that come with being jewish.
Christians kinda just say, hey be like me.
And I appologize to any Christians who may be offended, its after all, just my opinion.

yes but no let me tell you a story this man was in the army and was made fun of because he believed in God (btw God should always be in a upper case because if you dont it will be disrespectful to any religion) and one day the Sargent asked the man to park a jeep perfectly, the man said i dont know how to drive, the Sargent said then ask your God for help. the man got in the jeep and said a prayer then the man preceded to park the jeep perfectly. he turns to se everyone crying and saying i want to serve your God. the man asked what happened and the sargent showed him there was no engine in the car. That is the God of the impossible .

this coffee cup belonged to the cat god, the one and only god, and this belonged to him and its a real artifact that belonged to him so he must be real. anyone can say that a cup or a vase or some old artifact belonged to anyone. Also prove to me that they really belonged to them, show me prove that isn't from a book.
0 ups, 3y
jesus cross has his blood on it and they tested and they proved there was a human on that cross, veronica's vail also has Jesus blood on it , Jesus tomb is also real , the holy land is also a place jesus walked on when he was getting killed

I know the pyramids are real because they are there, you can go see them. There's a difference between a object that hundreds of people see and a character in a book. I have no doubts that the OG bible is a thing, there totally could of been a guy named Jesus. I just think he was a normal guy. So, I can see pyramids can I see a book, yes, but can I see a fictional character, no.
0 ups, 3y
there is multiple sitings where it is proven That God exist but you guys are waaaaahh that doesnt prove anything and you saying that a book written 100s of years ago doesnt prove anything but you never bothered reading it . and it says in the bible God has no figure but a voice he does and withthat voice he has told tons of people what to do like Abraham, Noah , Moses, Joshua , King David , Samson , Mary , Joseph, and thousands more

so the tomb of a guy named Jesus and a picture of him is a source? First off fakes exist, second off a picture of a Jesus made by this person we can't track, if you look up "who made veronicas veil" you get the the answer legend and its has a unknown source. Third off, olive tree can be planted and regrown and olive trees being in the same area Jesus was does not prove he exists. Fourth off, pieces of wood that someone would have to travel around the world to get proves he's a thing? and his tomb doesn't prove he came back. Like I totally believe there was a guy named Jesus who was killed, but I don't think he was special, I think he was a guy who got executed.
0 ups, 3y
yes i know there are fakes but the real ones are kept safe inside churches and cathidrals in italy , rome Jerusalem and other places im not gonna bother looking for. and no one made veronica veil it is a cloth that ha sthe face of jesus with his blood . and yes they can be replanted but those where there since Jesus and that is what im talking about. That is the God of the impossible. and you coming up with bullshit excuses isnt proving he isnt real
0 ups, 3y,

and i think why your not providing sources for any of your claims is you lying to defend the church.

First off, more people saying a lie doesn't make it true. another thing is that do you think there are differences between catholic and orthodox yes, but do they have some things in common. About the bible part, there are 50 different versions of the bible in English. (https://www.christianity.com/wiki/bible/why-are-there-so-many-different-versions-of-the-bible.html) (www.gotquestions.org/Bible-versions.html)
0 ups, 3y
ok let me clear something up there is diffrent versions of the bible but they are wanna be's but in honesty they are different religions butting the title "holy bible" so they gain more followers. and let me say this again those where real people it shows so much facts. there is even artafacts that they had that proves they are real
0 ups, 3y
Show me prove he came back, and I think god and the people he happened to talked to are fictional. and who were the scientists who studied?
0 ups, 3y,
1 reply
Well, first off you ignored 75% of my argument, and no were not just going "waaaaaaaaaaah" and second, i cant read the first bible because according to some story the book got destroyed so no one can every read it. and second saying god exists doesn't make him exist. Also, saying he told fictional characters he existed doesn't make them exist ether. And also, if you ever want to debate and not look like a fool, learn to use proper grammar.
0 ups, 3y
first off there is millions of copies of the bible so that is wrong . second those arent fictional characters all o those where real people , you can look in ancient hstory text books to other bibles and they would say those characters did exist. third im dislexic
0 ups, 3y,

How do you know he wasn't made, and also a book written hundreds of years ago doesn't prove anything. And to what I was saying at the start, prove that he is real without just saying that he is everything or a outdated book written by a man who did not have a grasp on the world because he did not have the tools we do.
0 ups, 3y
well that book written 100s of years ago had real storys . and i can say the same thing about other thing . pyramids they where built thousands of years ago so how do you know they arent real

first off, God was created to think about how the universe was made, and if we don't fully understand the universe; how can we be sure God isn't just a big coincident?
0 ups, 3y
first of all God wasnt created he was always here and always will be you see everything is tempery money fame success everything is but God he will always exist .also we do know that God ixist because in the book of genesis Gog=d says there shall be light .

veronicas veil is in Matilda chapel in the Vatican , Jesus tomb is in Jerusalem , the pieces of Jesus cross are scattered around the earth, there is also another place in Jerusalem where Jesus was praying before he was gonna be executed there was olive trees there and they are still alive today.

No it wasn't.
Im Jewish, and the Hebrew texts are far deeper than any bible you'll see.
G-d spoke to all of the nation of Israel at once. Yes He appeared to Abraham, but he didn't give over the torah then. He spoke to all of Israel and gave it over to them all.
0 ups, 3y,

But it was during wandering in the desert for 40 years that moses spoke to god and received the stone tablets
0 ups, 3y,

Before they wandered, Moses went up to get the tablets and learn about them. Then he came down and G-d Himself said the first two commandments for everyone.
0 ups, 3y,

Then he came back down the mountain amd got mad that the israelites were worshiping the golden cow and smashed them
0 ups, 3y
Actually, it was the group of Egyptians who came along with them who started the golden calf and got all the men involved.
0 ups, 3y
And abraham yes it’s in the binle but the torah is the only book we have we don’t have a New Testament

Well said. Well said.

The way I generally cope with stuff like that is I either think of something worse, and think of how my situation isn't that bad, I come up with all the reasons why suicide and drugs are bad (the long list keeps me distracted), or I just think of how all things will come to an end, even the bad ones

And as much proof as you have that He doesn't exist, I have 10000x more but I'm not interested in a debate because I know you aren't looking for an answer, you merely want to push your opinion on someone who isn't interested just as you are not interested in my opinion.

I feel its more honorable to my G-d.
In jewish customs, we dont even say G-ds name when we just talk about G-d, we say HaShem which literally translates to The Name.
When we pray, we do though. He also has many names.
I dont know if I explained it well enough, sorry

I can see that, but for me it will always just drive me crazy that the only person to still love and comfort you isn’t completely proven to exist
It just makes me feel crazy, that’s just how my brain works.

But if it comforts you, helps you stay sane, which can then benefit you and others, then I would support that :)

Who cares if its proven or not?
Children go years with imaginary friends and those are their rock.
I do believe in G-d, and I don't listen to non-believers who claim the truth is too outdated to be trustworthy.

To each his own.
[deleted]

outdated? it was never proven. nothing wrong with imaginary friends, just don't force others to "believe" they are real.
