This very MUCH was about the election. It happened while Mike Pence was formalizing the electoral result. The stated intention of the crowd, and, let's not forget, the keynote speaker, was to pressure (at best) Pence into vetoing the election and declare the candidate who didn't win to have won. That's what they were trying to do. That's what they were attacking. They weren't attacking Teh Politishuns. They were trying to veto the result. They wanted to change the election. They were there because of the election. It was an election thing. It was about the vote count. Counting the votes was their beef. They didn't like who won. They were chanting it. They posted to social media about it. We know why they were there. We know what it was about. It was about the election. They were trying to veto the election by mob rule. It is illegal to veto the election.
