The whole LeftRightLeftRight paradigm is exactly the goosestepping silliness it tries so very hard to be, and the "which one has more poo on its boot" goggles look especially sharp in low lighting.
Simply identifying anyone as "the opposition" in effect amounts to something of a deliberate attempt at dehumanizing them, marking them with whatever label is just another step in furthering their dehumanization.
I find playing Devil's Advocate or siding with the more minor voices to be the most entertaining, highlighting whatever aspect of a multifaceted issue is needed to push it as opposed to sitting glumly on the dichotomy chair, arms folded, bracing for some ego rupturing impact lobbed by another armchair warrior requiring me to dutifully return the favor.
But the last 4 years have sucked much of the fun aspect out of of it, events turning ever more alarming. More than a wake-up call, it has been sirens blaring, and another four years would have been the end of us.
Here's hoping that the next four won't swing our beloved pendulum too hard in disemboweling from another angle which would in turn call for a correction from another angle and so on and achoo, achoo, we all fall down,,,
