Apparently local officials counting votes in Texas can declare your vote illegal based on signature alone.
They can compare it to signatures on record..... signatures from up to six years ago... say it doesn't match... and throw it right in the trash.
Furthermore, if someone's vote gets rejected, state election law says the state isn't even required to give the voter an opportunity to challenge the rejection of their vote.
