Social programs are not necessarily socialism If that’s what you want to point out. A democratic republic can have social programs and not be socialist.
I knew that’s where you were going. It’s an oversimplification. Socialism is a very different animal from Capitalism with social programs. Again you can have social programs like welfare and social security and still have capitalism. Socialism is a baby step towards communism and state control of your decisions.
