I don't think many people paid 1 million in 2016 and 4.2 million in 2017 to the treasury
The article itself says he did

He “paid” it and got it back because he had more than double that in tax credits.

You have to read the whole paragraph, not just the five or six words you want to manipulate to make your argument.

Also not what the article said. Could you stop lying for 2 seconds?

Hey, you gaslighting plunger stick, here’s the whole quote and not just what you manipulated:

“Each time, he requested an extension to file his 1040; and each time, he made the required payment to the I.R.S. for income taxes he might owe — $1 million for 2016 and $4.2 million for 2017. But virtually all of that liability was washed away when he eventually filed, and most of the payments were rolled forward to cover potential taxes in future years.

To cancel out the tax bills, Mr. Trump made use of $9.7 million in business investment credits, at least some of which related to his renovation of the Old Post Office hotel, which qualified for a historic-preservation tax break. Although he had more than enough credits to owe no taxes at all, his accountants appear to have carved out an allowance for a small tax liability for both 2016 and 2017.

When they got to line 56, the one for income taxes due, the amount was the same each year: $750.”

Under normal circumstances, I try to remain civil, but I’ll make an exception here; please, every so gently, and with all sincerity...go f**k yourself.

To his what? He used $9.7 million in credits to cancel out what tax bill?

The tax bills in 2016 and 2017. That’s why the New York Times says his tax bill was ultimately $750.

Kick rocks, skippy.

They’re still scrambling to find their footing on this one I reckon

I am so digging that this story broke the day before the first debate

It hits Trump the only place he is likely to ever feel genuinely hurt: His money

Everything else he sold out long ago

I called it in January; Biden is going to mop the floor with Trump is the debates. Trump needs the oohs and aahs of a crowd to feed his vitriol. Snarky remarks in an empty room will expose his insecurities because he has no clue how anything is landing with the people and Chris Wallace isn’t going to put up with his BS.

...and that was all before COVID and the NYT report.

What people have forgotten is that Joe Biden in the public eye for 3/4 of his life. He’s chaired multiple committees while in the Senate and he was the VP of the United States of America twice. He can hold his own in a debate. All he has to do is avoid wading into the filth that Trump wallows in and he’ll be just fine.

The idea that Biden is suffering any kind of cognitive decline is laughable at best. No more so than the current occupant who routinely rambles incoherently, has the posture of someone suffering the onset of a form of Parkinson’s, and is foiled by a 30’ long ramp.

Have you seen Biden talk for more than a few minutes without making a fool of himself? I haven't.

I have. Plenty of times.

You’ll have to excuse me, I’m planning a family vacation to Yo-Semite and then I have to fly to Thigh-land for business.

lol I laughed when I heard him say that, but a mispronounced word does not in any way compete with "If you don't vote for me you ain't black." sorry.

The NYT isn’t going to contradict itself the day after blowing the lid of your angry Cheeto. Here’s a summary of last night’s main NYT article from today, also from the NYT:

“Among the key findings of The Times’s investigation:

—Mr. Trump paid no federal income taxes in 11 of 18 years that The Times examined. In 2017, after he became president, his tax bill was only $750.

—He has reduced his tax bill with questionable measures, including a $72.9 million tax refund that is the subject of an audit by the Internal Revenue Service.

—Many of his signature businesses, including his golf courses, report losing large amounts of money — losses that have helped him to lower his taxes.

—The financial pressure on him is increasing as hundreds of millions of dollars in loans he personally guaranteed are soon coming due.

—Even while declaring losses, he has managed to enjoy a lavish lifestyle by taking tax deductions on what most people would consider personal expenses, including residences, aircraft and $70,000 in hairstyling for television.

—Ivanka Trump, while working as an employee of the Trump Organization, appears to have received “consulting fees” that also helped reduce the family’s tax bill.

—As president, he has received more money from foreign sources and U.S. interest groups than previously known. The records do not reveal any previously unreported connections to Russia.”

Nope, that's not what the story said. I know you're a drooling imbecile, but that's not what the NYT said. They worded it carefully to give a false impression, but THAT IS NOT WHAT THEY ACTUALLY SAID, liar.
