Amidst the vote by mail controversy, Trump replaces all of the top management at the Postal Service and the first thing they do is remove hundreds of mail sorting machines across the country? Up until about a year ago, the company that manages the apartment I live in would only accept rent by mail. (They didn't want people paying in person because their office was too small to have that many people paying in person at once). I was good about keeping the stubs for my money orders (so I could cancel them, for a fee, when something happened). The number of times my rent got lost in the mail was ridiculous. It was a lot of leg work to fix. But I had to do it multiple times. So I know just how reliable the mail is.

That is a great (but sad) story, boredmeme. We have had so many dropped balls by the P.O. that it is
ridiculous. One time we ordered something online and when it was delivered to the P.O., they turned around and mailed it back to the sender and never even tried to deliver it. They had pictures of it at the P.O. in Houston and then pictures of it going back to place of origin.

It is weird. I’ve never had any problems. It must depend on the individual postal locations because my mail always gets to me and always gets to where it’s going.

It's actually worse in poor/high crime areas. Relying exclusively on mail in ballots would have the effect disenfranchising the very people that Democrats want included. Not by design, that's just how it would play out.

Some years ago a postal worker in my town was found guilty of stealing money from Christmas cards. In his home was found hundreds of the envelopes that had contained these cards. We seriously cannot trust pertinent items to be sent via ordinary U.S. mail.

Nothing is 100% secure. You shouldn’t send cash via fedex or ups either. Shit, you can pay a courier $100 to deliver $1000 cash and you still run the risk of them taking the money.

Yet somehow my tax refund always makes it and I’ve never had a credit card stolen and yes even cash and checks from other payments get to me all the time via usps. I trust the USPS as much as I can any deliver system. They deliver a billion Christmas cards every November/December. They can handle some ballots.

You obviously haven't dealt much with the P.O. Have you ever simply tried to stop your mail and then have it redelivered? They have NEVER mastered that simple procedure. Have you ever read an article about mail found discarded by the road or in a dumpster? There are a lot of postal workers who are emotional Democrats....how do you think the phrase "going postal" got started? SO many more chances for fraud out there than I have time to list. Without ID cards (which Dems are vehemently against as they love to cheat) this vote-by-mail is rife with problems.

I do that (suspend mail for travel reasons) ALL the time online with no issues. I see my physical arriving mail in a daily email. It's great.
