No, Jamaican can be black. As for multiethnicity and blackness, she's also Indian. There is a gray area, but she still wouldn't be the first black female to make it as VP should she be elected. It's like Obama - he has a white mom, so it's just as valid to say he was a white president as it is to say he was a black one. If Barack's brother Malik were to be elected (obviously impossible due to national origin), he would be a black president because both parents are of black or African descent. If I (black/Hispanic) were to get elected, people could say I'm the first Hispanic, but such isn't the case, since I'm also black. We've never had a black president, and Democrats have had opportunities to present a black presidential candidate and failed.

You seem to be making the opposite of the "one drop rule" argument. Let's say Michelle Obama's entire family tree originated solely from Africa... Are her and Barack's daughters black? Can they not identify as "black" because the Grandma on their dad's side is white?

Except for the few who refuse to date outside their race, it seems race is becoming ever closer to meaninglessness.

Also as far as "never having a black president", ok say that if you want to but.. I forget what comedian said it but basically the jist was "what you thought America would just dive right in with a black president?? No.. we had to dip a toe in the water first...with Obama".

He did NOT commit to picking a black woman (nor a woman of color) for VP... I've read articles as late as July 20th supporting this. I'm open to being proven wrong though.
