That's the beauty of the Electoral College, 4 or 5 densely populated cities don't determine the outcome of national elections every election. It's a federal system that balances power and protects the "little guy", something the Democrats always say they want to do, right? Little guy? Right?

Well it wasn’t set up to balance out the “little guy.” It was set up to override the voice of the people if it didn’t coincide with who the power bloq wants in office.

Anyway, what difference does it make whether a state is densely populated or not? Popular vote means every vote counts individually. Electoral college means every vote doesn’t count.

NYC and Wyoming have different priorities. NYC has more congressmen (which is the same as the number of electors plus 2 Senators) and each state has 2 Senators- not based on population to help lower population states represent and protect their interests. NYC is 305 sq miles, Wyoming is 97,818 sq miles. One is heavily industrialized the other produces raw materials. How do you govern them the same? How will the citizens of NYC protect the citizens of Wyoming when their interests clash?
Now make it New York State and CA, TX an FL have more population, and different interests based on geography and other factors. The Electoral College is precisely designed to prevent the tyranny of the majority to protect the rights of the individual citizen. Marxism on the other hand advocates that the rights of the individual can be crushed by the needs of the many.
The US created the most unique balance of powers in the history of mankind. The problems we have with the system have been created by groups who manipulate it for their own gain. If anything needs fixed, that's it.
