What proof do you have that they were violent? From what I’ve seen, they were randomly arresting protestors without any legitimate reason and without reading them their rights. This is the exact kind of government overreach that conservatives and libertarians should go after.

Then what can they be charged with? I know the Brits had a war measures act where they could detain suspected IRA for 7 or so days without charge. What's happened after the Portland protesters were arrested?
