That's true, the popular vote absolutely does not win elections, which is exactly what the founders wanted. Fortunately HRC wasn't bright enough to realize that, or she might be our president today.
But thankfully she's just not that smart. Without the EC, a horrible candidate like HRC might win by carrying just a few of the large states.
Of course, that would eliminate the interest of our presidential candidates in any state that didn't have at least one huge city, or a considerable state-wide population, such as California, New York, Texas, etc. Smaller states would be completely excluded from our electoral process in terms of candidates pandering (errr, campaigning) and feigning concern for their interests.
The founders may all have been (apparently, according to woke hypocrite snowflakes) horrible racist slave owners, but that didn't prevent them from devising a system that is fair to all states, not just the big ones.
