If white cops would stop killing black people, that would be great.

In a state that votes overwhelmingly Democrat for 60 years, you think the cop was a Republican?

Your fantasy world must be fun.

How about no cops killing by unreasonable force? How about the mayor & police chief train police? How about ranking officers on the scene? How about 3 other cops arrested for not stopping the murder? This murderer did not kill because the deceased was black. He killed because he is an asshole who should not have. Even protected by his police union, but fired way before May. His wife filed for divorce. Does he abuse her too? Sounds like she saw a window and took it. This is not racial, it’s liberal politics.

how about not committing a crime to begin with, so you don't end up in that situation.

Your question evades all personal responsibility & leaves the definition to be whether the State can prove you did a crime, If you don’t get caught murdering, then it ain’t a crime.

"Police violence is a leading cause of death for young men in the United States. Over the life course, about 1 in every 1,000 black men can expect to be killed by police. Risk of being killed by police peaks between the ages of 20 y and 35 y for men and women and for all racial and ethnic groups. Black women and men and American Indian and Alaska Native women and men are significantly more likely than white women and men to be killed by police. Latino men are also more likely to be killed by police than are white men."

And what percentage of crime is committed by each race? Guess what, black are also over represented in this group. So it stands to reason, if a given group has an amount of interactions with the police that is over represented in comparison to their population percentage, than we can expect adverse outcomes will be over represented.

And just like that we are not interested in perspective and analyzing statistics. Instead, we will point to the invisible Boogeyman of "systemic oppression". Please point out the laws have "systemically oppressed" those people rioting. I'll wait.

Sorry, I'm lost here. My lost comment was about systemic oppression. Specifically, I asked what laws systemically oppressed those people rioting.

There are rioters of all races. Which laws oppressed them.

No more ridiculous than your reasoning. I've been holding the cop himself personally responsible until there was all this talk about Minnesota being a blue state. Then it occurred to me, we have a Republican president who has been emboldening white supremacists and ostracizing people of color. His divisive rhetoric has caused mass protests and now riots. All this happened on his watch. He doesn't get to skate on this. The riots are on him.

He's been emboldening white supremacists? Even though it was Trump who became the first President in history to label the KKK a hate group?

Totally emboldening.

You're stupid to converse with.
1 up, 5y
The riots are on the rioters. Just like wife beating is on the wife beater. Just like drunk driving is on the driver. Just like murder is on the murderer. It's called personal responsibility, dumbass.

Very bold meme.

It does make you wonder why the party that promises to fix all our problems and take care of us, can;t weed out a sadistic, racist, murdering cop *before* he murders an innocent man.

Yes, I'm pretty sure none of those people are elected officials.

I know it's a very unpopular opinion but I don't think any political party supports systematic racism. Are there individuals in that party or those who elect individuals racist? Yes. That doesn't mean that systematic racism solely rests on a single party. Nor any party.

If you want to rally the people against racism, don't start with a single party because you'll lose every time. Start with policies that inhibit or exacerbate systematic racism. Whether intentionally or indirectly.

That said, Trump being removed (just as Obama being voted in) are both a good start. We're a long way from it ending. Far from it.

It's not a bi-partisan problem. Humanity has nothing to do with politics.
