I don't think so. Which is why the wheels of justice in this case need to go at whatever speed necessary to ensure no glitches in their prosecution.

Each year 900-1000 people are shot and killed by police. Since 2005, 35 police have been convicted. Sure, most cases are likely justified.

Just because a video exists that clearly shows this cop murdered a man, doesn't mean he will end up convicted. He would be in a very small minority if so.

Remember how the LA riots got started? They acquitted all four officers of beating Rodney King which was also caught on video and was an entirely lengthy and unnecessary beating. Here they're charging the cop with third degree murder after he knelt on the guy's neck for three minutes AFTER he became unresponsive? It's already a sham.

That video was blurry, grainy and shot from a long distance, Blue moron. This video is clear and up close. I believe the deceased was heard to say he couldn't breathe, and bystanders were yelling at the cop that he was killing him.

I can see though, why a dimwit like you might try to make the comparison between the two on the most superficial level, meaning both situations are caught on video.

Sorry for my slow reply. While your statistics are sadly correct, I think this case is different. At least I hope so. In this case, it seems that only the craziest of the crazy think the cops should get off.

So my point is, take it as slow as necessary in terms of building the prosecution's case, to make sure there aren't any technical issues that could get them off. Don't waste time, but don't hurry and make a mistake. That's all I was trying to say.

And it is encouraging to see that in the days since my post, the other three cops have been charged, and the killer cop has had the charge against him raised from 3rd to 2nd degree murder. Things are moving in the right direction, imo, in terms of the prosecution.

I've sat on a jury with a lying cop trying to get a UPS driver for DWI. The whole situation pissed me off so much. Cops lie all the time. It's part of the cop culture and they continue to get away with it. I can hate the culture but still support and believe in the need for police. That doesn't mean the whole system doesn't need revamping.

Four police officers have been fired and the one who killed George Floyd is in prison he will be prosecuted once things have calmed down here. The riots are not justified all they do is delay justice and destroy our city and economy. I want justice too.

We should also deal with looters to the extent that the law allows, and I believe law enforcement can shoot looters. It's actually legal. Cops and national guard can shoot looters. That was implied in my comment when speaking of New Orleans. They can and have. Lately it's not enforced, but let the right situation present itself and everyone will be educated on it. There's a political price for shooting looters that governors don't want to pay, so they try to avoid it at all costs.

Cops and National Guard can only shoot looters under martial law and specific orders from the Chief or Governor. (Of course martial law also means they can confiscate guns). During Katrina there was talk of an order handed down by the police chief to shoot looters but he denied it. Minnesota also doesn't have castle laws.
