Trump is Trump. I know it. You know it. We all know it. He does tend to be generous and civil but once someone attacks him, not merely criticize, he will strike back. Always a wise tactic? Certainly not. But part of the reason he was elected was that he's a battler. And some of the things Biden, Pelosi, Schiff, Scarborough etc have said about him have been horrible slander too.

Trump tends to attack others for the slightest percieved slight. Once confronted face to face, however, he tends to became rather tame in approach (to put butt kissing lightly) and drops the hissy fits.

Only those he sees as an unrelenting, definite and immediate threat to his 'power' or representing a group of such (such as Mueller, Pelosi, Schiff, Biden, and his eternal nemesis, Hillary) are dealt his Twitter ire. But even with those in person he's all handshakes.

Trump is classic Image vs Reality.

This messaging was to prevent panic buying. However, he and other agencies issued different guidance later.

Public health is a delicate balance among science, available resources, politics, and risk. All of these things inform guidance.

It's obviously safest from a purely scientific standpoint for everyone to stay home forever until we find a real vaccine or cure and it's 100% available, but as a social and political matter, that's just not feasible.

Face masks aren't 100% effective -- nobody ever said that. The material matters and they can be misused. However, science and common sense both support the idea that face-masks are at least somewhat helpful at reducing transmission in the meantime.

Since people need to get out and about, encouraging widespread use of face-masks strikes the right balance.

False. Science doesn't support the use of cloth masks in preventing infection. There is a reason you never saw Government at any level mandating masks for the public for the countless outbreaks before this.
