Children are now in charge around here. You can't expect a whole lot. My advice is to figure out who is moderating a stream and try to post in streams which are not owned by children.
We don't have a very configurable rule system for user-owned streams right now. The only way a stream owner can specify rules is through the stream description, which has limited space and is awkward to list out rules. The rules in the submission pop-up are just the sitewide rules. For this reason I wouldn't hold it entirely against a stream mod for using rules that are not mentioned.
Happy to hear any suggestions about improving the rule system for non-featured streams.
There should be a space allowed for a stream creator to list their rules. But also, what is to stop someone from changing the rules left and right so they can remove memes whenever they want?
I mean, ultimately the moderation quality of a stream will come down to the owner and moderators regardless. So the tools we provide are merely a convenience. Good moderation will provide a good experience either way, likewise with bad moderation. By allowing anyone to create streams, we'll have a mix of both. My hope is we can provide enough transparency and accountability that moderators will be motivated to do things right.
This is why I suggested posting the name of the stream owner at the top of the stream, say near the stream description or near where the "follow" button is. In fact, all mods should be listed for all to see. I believe that alone would deter certain ill behavior.
I don’t even bother with that stream anymore after I’ve seen what the stream owner does over there with people he doesn’t like. My stream, Everyones_A_Mod has been growing fast, doesn’t have any posting restrictions apart from TOS, and is modded a lot better imo. Feel free to submit posts over there if Overload screws you over.
Well, that sounds fair enough, since politics is a sensitive subject and pron and sex is not something everybody seems to be able to handle (maturely), now I do not know what the meme in question contained.
That is possible, however having been a victim myself of mod power abuse some time ago, I deem it also possible that power abuse is the case, but as long as I haven't seen the meme in question I cannot judge.
There was no porn or sex or politics in the meme.......it was a GIF of a fight that I had edited but whoever denied said it was "unchanged"........it's not a grudge, this thread was fine before there were 20 kiddie mods with their own agendas......
The stream rules DO NOT say no politics, or at least, did not at the time neither.......if that's what they want, they need to add it to the list, otherwise, don't abuse mod power
