Hey, yolo, sorry for my slow reply. I get so busy responding to idiotic snowflake memes that I sometimes (well, usually) forget to go back and look for replies to my posts.
By "accountable" I mean just what the main meaning of the word is. So in this case, China, likely in collusion with the W-Ho, pretty clearly withheld details about this virus, and also delayed reporting anything about it, and then when they did report about it, they lied. Both in terms of potential danger, numbers, scope, you name it, almost everything coming out of China was a lie.
While China was telling the world that this was no problem, under control, and not even transmittable from human to human, within China they locked down the entire region of "Luhan" (as Joe Biden calls it) and at the same time, continued to let international travelers fly out of Wuhan to other countries.
When a person, an organization, or a nation does something that causes others, in this case the rest of the world, so much hardship, DEATH, and quantifiable financial damage, they should be held accountable. In this case, at a minimum, financially. However, I would also expect that once the dust settles and all the details come out, they will lose their status in the world community. They need to be punished hard, economically. Maybe their people will rise up?
That's probably a pipe dream. Also, weren't they just awarded a seat on the UN human rights council? That's about as big an irony as anybody could possibly imagine, so take that away. It probably can't be done, but if it can be done, it should be done.
I could go on, but I won't. I'm sure you're bored to tears by now, assuming you've even read this far.
