We should just call it the "Wuhan bio-terror weapon", which would be accurate.

Hong Kong flu
Asian flu
Middle East Respiratory Syndrome
Spanish flu

This imagined sensitivity is a new phenomenon.

Yep -- the Zika river. Thanks for reminding me.
Also, Ebola came from the region surrounding the Ebola river.

Oh in addition, the Zika virus came from the Zika forest. But the river could be located inside of the forest.

That's because feral SJW retards are a new phenomenon. Even the ones in the 90's were still somewhat reasonable.

It isnt racist at all. Facts are not subject to racism.

Yeah, but this time we're also not racist, so we name it after its molecular shape because that's actually quite an impressive feat of technology.
0 ups, 5y
What's racist about naming it after its geographical origin?

So if we know where it’s from and it’s not racist then what’s your point?

China's not a race, sjw cultural Marxist.
[deleted]
0 ups, 5y
In China's case, that actually does depend on who you ask. I refer you to our previous discussion on how poorly defined racial identities are to begin with.

AND on top of that, I refer you to the fact that the scope of racism is commonly understood to include cultural, religious, and national identities.

Nobody. Cares. It has a name already and your hardon for trash-talking other countries isn't a good enough reason to change it.

What no. The Zika virus came from the Zika forest. Hence the name. Also I don't care if you don't care. Its just a cool fact that bears naming.

Debate racism if you want to but that sh*t lasted like what.. 1 week?

That's how important "geographic location" is.

If the media had been consistent, they would have continued to call it the Wuhan virus, or the Wuhan Chinese virus.

That's exactly what they were calling it at first. Just do some googling for news in the January time frame.

But somebody complained and all of a sudden, the snowflakes melted, in mass!

That's how being PC and being a snowflake works. No individual thinking, it's all herd mentality.

And if Trump was consistent, he would have continued to call it the Chinese Virus... what's your point? "Chinese virus" tells us virtually nothing considering how many viruses have originated in China. "Wuhan Chinese Virus" is specific and was informative.. (or at least it was up until everyone knew that information).

Donald beginning to call it the "Chinese Virus" however many weeks after everyone already knew the exact city in China where it originated, and virtually right after his famous " I don't take any responsibility at all" statement, as well as after some Chinese dingbat alleging that America had planted it in China, should make it crystal clear that informing the public about "geographic origin" had nothing to do with it.

Also.. Right before Trump quit calling it that he was considering the impact that him calling it "Chinese Virus" was having on Asian-Americans.. what a f*cking snowflake sheep he is. Lol

I thought my point was obvious. Perhaps not, so I'll be very specific.

Snowflakes have no foundational principles. No core values. Nothing other than situational opportunism in the desperate hope of getting Trump out of office.

If calling it the Peking Duck virus would get Trump out of office, you guys would be all over it... feelings be damned!

The bottom line is that China, either through evil intent, or through corruption, or through sheer incompetence, let this virus get way out of hand BEFORE telling the rest of the world what they had known about for weeks. I don't really give one dayum what it's called, as long as China is held accountable.

But not you snowflakes! You guys see what Trump calls it, and actually the virus itself as nothing more than another pathetic opportunity in a long line of pathetic issues (usually made up, i.e. Russian collusion) to use to try and get rid of Trump.

Do not even pretend that you want this crisis to be over before the election. Do not even pretend that you want to anything else but blame the virus on Trump so you can say it's his fault the economy has gone off the rails. You want the virus to win, so Trump will lose. And that means you want Americans to die, just to get rid of Trump.

That's evil and sick.

1. Cool story bro.

2. Trump is most likely going to mop the floor with Biden, virus or no virus.

3. "..as long as China is held accountable"... meaning what exactly?

Probably about how they hid the extent of the problem and downplayed the severity of the situation, basically lied through their teeth about the whole thing till the excrement hit the oscillator. And for that, yes, there needs to be accountability. Not to mention the practice of eating wild animals filled with who knows what diseases. Which most of the world is now paying the price for.

It's a shame that you can't really punish the Chicom leaders without punishing their civilians. But moving companies out by taxing the hell out of them would be a good start but politicians on all sides have sold out to China and their donors.

"Accountability" the fact or condition of being accountable; having or taking some or all responsibility. As in, world leaders need to have discussions, summits, conferences, whatever... with Bejing about their less than transparent approach to the crisis and parts of their nation's poor choice of victuals? Might be a waste of time though, might not be. Not much else can be done realistically.

I would tend to agree.... However, we might look like hypocrites considering that unfortunately I think it could be argued that your description "hid the extent of the problem and downplayed the severity of the situation, basically lied through their teeth about the whole thing till the excrement hit the oscillator" could also be applied to our president's response.
0 ups, 5y,

It could be applied to most western governments at this stage sadly.... I just hope more than anything that the death rate starts to go down soon.
0 ups, 5y
I don't know for sure that this is true but assuming those who have caught it and recovered are immune from catching and transmitting it again (and those who have died obviously can no longer spread it), it would seem the pool of possible hosts for the virus will shrink.. and that combined with other preventative measures taking place will shrink the number of new cases as well as the death rate over time. But again I'm not sure my initial assumption is true.

Hey, yolo, sorry for my slow reply. I get so busy responding to idiotic snowflake memes that I sometimes (well, usually) forget to go back and look for replies to my posts.

By "accountable" I mean just what the main meaning of the word is. So in this case, China, likely in collusion with the W-Ho, pretty clearly withheld details about this virus, and also delayed reporting anything about it, and then when they did report about it, they lied. Both in terms of potential danger, numbers, scope, you name it, almost everything coming out of China was a lie.

While China was telling the world that this was no problem, under control, and not even transmittable from human to human, within China they locked down the entire region of "Luhan" (as Joe Biden calls it) and at the same time, continued to let international travelers fly out of Wuhan to other countries.

When a person, an organization, or a nation does something that causes others, in this case the rest of the world, so much hardship, DEATH, and quantifiable financial damage, they should be held accountable. In this case, at a minimum, financially. However, I would also expect that once the dust settles and all the details come out, they will lose their status in the world community. They need to be punished hard, economically. Maybe their people will rise up?
That's probably a pipe dream. Also, weren't they just awarded a seat on the UN human rights council? That's about as big an irony as anybody could possibly imagine, so take that away. It probably can't be done, but if it can be done, it should be done.

I could go on, but I won't. I'm sure you're bored to tears by now, assuming you've even read this far.

Trump was just letting China know that they are largely responsible for this mess. He made his point and moved on.

Calling the coronavirus the Wuhan Chinese Virus is the same as calling it the Chicago American Virus. It just doesn't make sense to call it that way.
