Are you surprised that democrats and lefties are sticking up for another country than their own? It's business as usual.

I thinks it's more deflection than racism.. I mean idk what happened exactly with the WHO tests or the firing of the pandemic response team or Trump's ramblings in the beginning but I definitely recall "Make America Safe Again"........
Does it's origin give it a pass? Better to simply blame China regardless? Are we going to rename all viruses based on their location now because "China virus" isn't exactly narrowing it down 😝😷

The pandemic team didn't get fired.

I'm not sure it's blaming China as much as it is a recognition. Doesn't help that the government suppressed doctors trying to warn the world.
2 ups, 4y
So... where were they? 🤔

Anyone who doesn't already recognize where it came from at this point is probably a child or dead. Their government suppressed doctors.. our government made incredibly misleading statements.. one is obviously worse than the other but I think it could be argued both actions had a similar goal.. unless you believe my half-baked conspiracy theory #371.

Let's see what the media was calling it for 2 months, That should clarify the name.

We're blaming China because that's exactly where it came from, as has every other world wide pandemic virus come from. Their eating habits of bats, rats, and civets start these things, then their government's lying about it and blaming other countries only make it worse. I find it hard to believe they do these things on accident.

That is incorrect. The issue is not what they eat, but how they raise and distribute said animal products. However, as it relates to the meme and rhetoric. The country or city of origin is irrelevant information. It only serves to deflect responsibility for conditions elsewhere, which is counterproductive.

No, it does not. Ignoring China's lying and vindictiveness should not be ignored. Especially for identify politics. It has nothing to do with racism.

What about Trump's lying? He knew this was a lot worse than he was letting on for months and kept downplaying it. Now 2 GOP senators are getting fried for dumping their stocks in the middle of February after a meeting with other Repub senators about the coronavirus. Trump left us all twisting in the wind on this one. It's indefensible.

I do call it the coronavirus. That's all I call it, unless I'm joking around or trying to make a point to someone. Raising awareness as to where something like this originated (in this case, China), doesn't have anything to do with Chinese Americans. No one is going around harassing Asians in this country because Donald Trump called it the Chinese Virus. It just isn't happening. If there are a few ignorant shit stains out there who are harassing Asian people, they were already racist and do that type of thing anyway.

I know someone who still calls black people the n-word. When Donald Trump talks negatively about some gang bangers who happen to be black in downtown Chicago, that doesn't make this piece of shit any more racist than he already was.

It's your. Kind of embarrassing while calling someone ignorant.

It's funny how you bitch about Trump's incompetence yet have nothing to say about how the Chinese government covered up the threat of this virus when it occurred. Funny that.

2nd Story is about AOC saying people are racist for not eating at Chinese restaurants.

3rd story is complete BS, It's been debunked. No one told you.

4th story is explained by this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5eZtCq1aj2g

All stories came from the alphabet networks. Nuf said

Keep raging about fake racism while people are dying. That's the antidote that will save no one.

There was a clip on the news here, Brooklyn, I think, on the train... some guy was berating an Asian-American fella who was standing against the doors, like all in his face, threw his drink at him or somethng if I recall correctly...
Was awful. The dude stood there, ignored him. Was a couple of weeks ago.

Someone caught it on their phone, so hoping they catch him soon.

A fight almost broke out at the store right in front of me the other day because some middle school kid made a comment to a guy (thinking he was Chinese) to go back to China with his corona virus or something to that effect. The guy was actually Filipino but he did look more on the Asian side. The guy got pissed and started yelling at the kid then all these people were coming down on the guy for not cutting the kid some slack for being young and dumb. It was a mess.

Rotten kid, stupid people, just have no respect. I'm more worred about these imbeciles than I am of the disease.

Found of this week that a grocery store in the neighborhood had food, so I went shopping. A Rite Aid also had food, but some items (like cereal) were almost gone. The paper too.

Went to a 99 cents store where I buy soap (Hispano, a glycerin soap), and was surprised to see toliet paper & towels right at the door. So I bought a little.
Wondering if the availability might have anything to do with them being Chinese. People were buying stuff (one guy bought a bunch of rolls), but I wonder...

I scored some TP this morning, too. Hoping that the panic buying is dying down a bit....

I literally called the store a couple of days prior and asked, "Stupid question, but do you have any food left?"
There was only 1 bagel left when I got there (round 5-ish) so I left that for someone more desperate for one than me, otherwise did ok.

Yeah, gotta wonder how much can people stock up on things till they run out of room.

This is what the left is trying to do. They're more worried about "hurtful words" than they are about whether we can stop this pandemic in this country and working together to fight this. This is why I typically just ignore comments like these, but sometimes it just gets so f**king sad.

I'm convinced they want the death toll to climb, They don't care how many people die, They care about having talking points. They are willing to sacrifice anyone to get what they want.

It really is sad, But they refuse to acknowledge reality, You can't help people who refuse help, And of course they say we need help, When they are the ones cheering for a virus.

The very same Chinese came up with a word to mock them. How ironic.
1 up, 4y
Maybe not so much any more. But this popped up around the 2016 election. Trump's xenophobic talk, pro-capitalism, anti-progressive socialism, is much in line with Communist China's values.

Also, this epithet was coined for Chinese people who care about things like the disabled and rights for the Tibetans. It is thought these anti-Chinese ideals are influenced by western thinking. It's not a term they initially used to mock American liberals but the alt-right picked it up and ran with it.

Yep, like Biden, Bernie, Beto and Buttedgeedge telling everyone how the system is racist and white supremacy YET vote for me! Not going 'Dems are the real racists' but many certainly suffer from the soft bigotry of low expectations. I saw a study where liberals dumbed down their speech when talking to minorities. The conservatives didn't do that.

4 ups, 4y,

You do realize bipartisan isn't the dirty word. It's partisan you're looking for. Bipartisan means both parties consider it a non-political issue or have a common political goal that is mutual beneficial of two parties. Partisan means single-minded or putting party before country for only political gain. Partisan politics is divisive while bipartisan politics should be closer to unification. Unity and civility is what the President claims he wants, isn't it? But for some reason, just can't get it despite his partisan ways.

Still, I agree with your early assessment. Bipartisanship doesn't suit Trump. Last time he tried to make nice to Democrats, he offered to suspend due process in order to get the guns away from the "bad guys" and I think we should both agree that the Government really shouldn't have a say who or what is considered to be the "bad guys" as an excuse to take away our guns.

I'm a conservative, and that's when Trump lost me, by the way.

These things happen:

"The Spanish flu pandemic of 1918, the deadliest in history, infected an estimated 500 million people worldwide.

This flu went by many names, including Spanish flu, grippe, Spanish Lady, the three-day fever, purulent bronchitis, sandfly fever, and Blitz Katarrh.

No one is quite sure where the Spanish flu first struck. Some researchers have pointed to origins in China, while others have traced it back to a small town in Kansas. The best recorded first case occurred in Fort Riley."
