No, but it's also not the same type of socialist state that comrade Bernie wants to impose here in the US.

Just kidding I got more :)

We’re at least in agreement on one thing: Denmark’s not communist.

It’s also the country Bernie cities most often as an inspiration for his policies. Which, in addition to other statements he’s made (“I don’t want the government to own the means of production”) serves as pretty convincing proof Bernie’s not a communist, either.

Now: I’ve heard Denmark called both “socialist” and not-socialist by conservatives on this site

I try to avoid the s-word altogether, as no one agrees what it really means and I think we ask the word to do too much. I prefer the term “The Nordic Model.” Which I define broadly as: Free market capitalism & free trade, but with higher taxes and social spending.

We can have reasonable debates and disagreements about whether we want to implement The Nordic Model in our country, without resort to the confusing, inapt, and scaremongering Venezuela/Cuba/USSR comparisons.

You're under the impression that Russia is still communist. It hasn't been for thirty years.

Russia, today, is governed by Putin who was a hard line Soviet communist party member who would still like to see the old glory days of USSR (communism) resurrected. The animosity towards the so-called Trump/Putin relationship is what “Russia Russia Russia” was all about. Aside from Russia, the individual states of the former USSR are pretty much in consequential on the global stage.

Of course they remember those days because they lived them. I'm sure they hold some bittersweet memories and nationalist pride. They honor the dead in parades who died in WW2 and i heard state TV is now broadcasting the names of the millions who died. Saying Putin wants Russia to succeed doesn't mean he wants Communism back. They were Russian and mostly Christian before Zionists in England shipped in bums like Leon Trotsky there to start that whole awful Communist slog. Where did Marx do most of his writing?

Communism as a state ideology is dead in Russia. Post-communist Russia is not the Soviet Union. You must have read my meme wrong.

Russia was never Communist. Well, maybe for a couple of months after the revolution, but that's it. There never have been, nor are there any true communist states.

Read anything by Marx; what he wanted is not what has been implemented. Why? That's really more of a rhetorical question, because the answer should be obvious. Communism is such an idealistic system, not based on any kind of reality, that in its true form it cannot be implemented. Certainly not on any kind of country wide scale. Maybe in a city in Vermont like Bernie came from, but that's probably about it.

I am familiar with the difference between an idealistic theory and a state-backed ideological goal. What's your point? Read anything by Adam Smith - what he wanted is impossible to implement but you wouldn't call us a failed implementation of capitalism, would you?
