Trump has in fact has done exactly this many times

But eyyy that wasn’t even an impeachment count. It just creates work for some poor White House staffers (and jeopardizes national record-keeping but nbd right?)

Ironically, Rep. Pelosi’s SOTU protest only brings renewed attention to Trump’s own violations of the Presidential Records Act | PELOSI RIPPED UP A COPY OF A COPY OF A SPEECH ON NATIONAL TV! Seems nothing is really real to you guys unless it is caught on some sort of recording device

But that’s not exactly right either.

Even when we have actual audio or official transcripts of Trump incriminating himself — “grab ‘em by the pussy,” the Zelensky call — there’s always some new exonerating explanation to reach for

Here’s some more reading on this Act, including additional reports about Trump’s violation thereof, for you to explain away if you care to https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Presidential_Records_Act

See subsection: “Application” and cited sources

Each and every one a product of the anti-Trump deep state conspiracy I’m sure

Every damn time, but only when it’s a liberal point

Hmmm I’m beginning to suspect maybe you just don’t like liberal opinions

But this time: rather than assume — since you are training me! — I will ask you before I proceed

Do you like liberal opinions?

You talk to me anyway all the time, so being denied the distinct pleasure of chatting with you is the last thing I’m worried about

But if you must — I would understand

As for being a Leftist: See above actual footage of presidential candidates I voted for in ‘08 and twice in ‘12 and ‘16

I have never once voted for a Democrat to be president!

It’s gonna happen this time though —because Trump is terrible and the libertarians are kind of a mess without Johnson

The only thing you can disagree with on that is the RNC.
Find anything from anyone prior to 2016 even hinting they were.

Hey, wrote an opus down below, read it before it gets lowrated.

They both obstructed a conservative agenda.

Got my upvote.

If anything, McCain swung more to the right to appeal to the base, bewildering, disappointing, and nixing potential votes from moderates who had liked him.

Romney's problem was that he was viewed as this out of touch rich guy who wanted to ship jobs overseas to suit big business.

Thanks for the UV's.

They’re not tho. McCain was always a “maverick” but Ryan was the rock star of the Tea Party and fiscal conservatism. That was not that long ago, at all.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Political_positions_of_Donald_Trump

Trump was a Democrat — an actual registered one! And he donated to Democrats!

The way Trump basically came out of nowhere to totally re-define the GOP (and simultaneously sideline titanic GOP figures like the ones you listed, plus Romney) within the space of a single term is unprecedented and remarkable

But compared to what Trump’s apparently believed over the course of his life, the hard-right positions he apparently holds now are deeply weird

How did a New York billionaire celebrity become such a hero to lower-and-middle class whites across rural America? My opinion: The Wall, not touching Medicare/Social Security, and being the loudest opponent of Democrats.

"The way Trump basically came out of nowhere to totally re-define the GOP (and simultaneously sideline titanic GOP figures like the ones you listed, plus Romney) within the space of a single term is unprecedented and remarkable"

He didn't redefine them, they redefined him.

You don't know how politics works, do you? No one votes for something, they vote AGAINST what the 'other' brings.

Hatred is the great unifier. That "If it weren't for the Jews, I would have had to invented them" line that Hitler may or may not have said? The bigger the aspirations of the depot, the greater the demonization of this year's featured creature must be.

Now lest anyone start crying "Why you call him Hitler?" I ain't. At least not just him. They all are, in a sense, just occupying different spots on the scale. Some are Hitler, some are Carter. Most are inbetween.

Look up the origin of "Build the wall." Wasn't Trump. That rallying cry was given to him, because his message needed a way to spike the ball. At times of economic malaise, them Wetbacks become our Jews for the latest pogram.

As for redefining, you're paying too much attention to the optics. They're using him, son - Republicans and Democrats and their Oligarch backers. The hell y'all think Pelosi DID NOT WANT TO IMPEACH HIM, then screwed it up royally when she had no choice, ya stupid jackoffs?
He's that stupid rich kid in hs that the jocks became 'friends' with when rich daddy bought him that Maserati. Friday night, we're headed to Joey the Retard's house to party because he folks are cruising off on their yacht round the Keys for the weekend.
Trump is the Golden Goose. Their fall guy. Their fool.

Tell the trailer park boys that they'll be gettin their valuable fruit pickin jobs back because we're gettin rid of the Mexers. Tell the bottom lickers by making the richer way richer, Walmart will give them a whole $500 bonus for Christmas. Maybe. Tell the pro-lifers that Roe v Wade is going away, and they can hump their cuzins in peace knowing darkie won't be killin all them unwanted babies. Tell them that the Redeemer hath cometh from the depths of Sodom, and he's gonna blast them cityfolk back to the hell from whence they came. Tell them that the South has risen as He Is Risen, and they will raise their arms for the Rapture.

Populists don't get power by telling people truth, they do it by telling the moronic masses what they want to hear. Children like stories, and what a tale this gilded Messiah weaves.

Is free speech still a liberal value?
0 ups, 5y,

What do you mean by free speech exactly? Complicated topic.

Here are a few examples on speech which I think represent standard liberal viewpoints.

—Calling someone a bigot: Not an infringement of anyone’s free speech, but actually an exercise of one’s own free speech rights. (Considered an SJW thing, but Conservatives do this plenty, too. See: every meme comparing modern-day Democrats to the KKK, etc. I’ve certainly been called a bigot myself once or twice or a hundred times already).

—“Deplatforming”: Also typically not an infringement of anyone’s free speech, because the owner of the platform has their own free speech rights too. That holds true in the private realm — including a platform like ImgFlip. However, when it comes to public channels, there *cannot* be viewpoint-based restrictions on speech.

—Death threats (or other threats of violence), conspiring to commit a crime, child pornography, slander, libel: All well-known exceptions to “free speech” that have existed for a long time

These viewpoints are not really that controversial when you stop to think about them

I think a lot of conservatives’ opting for “free speech absolutism” these days simply doesn’t recognize a lot of the above points, or else unfairly regards these already well-established exceptions to free speech as a product of tyrannical recent Leftist activism.

And also obscures the true issue of our times (in my opinion), which is that the *quality* of our speech has deteriorated to the point it’s impossible to share ideas or regard others who disagree as real human beings.

Ask a short and seemingly simple question, get a long and complicated answer!

James O’Keefe? I don’t know — haven’t heard that one.

Twitter is a private company. This sounds like a routine case of deplatforming.

And: There are so many platforms these days. Anyone can find another one. Alex Jones sure did.

He's the project veritas guy that just busted Bernie staffers talking about violent revolutions and gulags and hiding their goals. So twatter silenced him, while breaking no TOS. Besides not making Bernie look bad.

Yeah, wonderful, the public square that got tax dollars to build it. Nothing to see here, folks!

Yeah, with nowhere near the exposure. Which is the goal.

Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders was assigned to publicly address these allegations when they came up in 2017

https://www.google.com/amp/s/time.com/5059236/white-house-donald-trump-sexual-assault-accusers/%3famp=true

She relayed the White House’s official position that each and every one of these women was lying.

Each and every one a liar!

No concession! No quarter! Good move!

She also offered that Trump was on record condemning Weinstein (just like the rest of the known universe)

Establish Trump is not insane! Boom! Easy one!

SHS further argued that anyway, all this happened so very long ago, and the 2016 election results effectively meant that it was no longer necessary to investigate these allegations.

That one is a bit of a head scratcher though.

So: if you win an election, that wipes away anything you may have ever done in the past?

All this sounds like something a Republican shill would say. And that’d be a good guess — because SHS is, in fact, a bona fide Republican shill! A literal paid spokesperson for a Republican President!

However: Where’s the evidence *all* these women are Democratic shills? Every single one?

I wonder: Would they have to prove they’ve never voted Democrat once in their lives for their allegations to be taken seriously?

Yes, she worked for Trump. Show me an example of anyone in her job slamming their president.

Yes, Trump runs for prez and they come out of the woodwork. It's now a pattern. Trump, Moore, Kavanaugh. If any of those women were raped, they should fight for justice. But they all faded away.
0 ups, 5y,
1 reply
No, I don’t expect SHS to slam the President. That’s exactly my point!

And we just saw this week what happens when that happens!

Every whistleblower that gets fired is one more chip to the credibility of everyone remaining in this Administration.

If no one *inside* the Administration can criticize the President without losing their jobs, and everyone *outside* the Administration is unreliable, because they’re either “not a firsthand witness” or must otherwise be vaguely tainted with some sort of anti-Trump bias, where does that leave us?

Dems already tried impeachment. That ammunition is spent.

And as you may know, sitting Presidents cannot be criminally indicted per an OLC opinion.

Only way at this point to hold Trump accountable for literally anything is if he chooses to hold himself accountable. (Which, anyone right or left who is being honest can tell you, is not going to happen)

Or: voters vote him out.

That’s what y’all wanted all along, right? “Let the voters decide?“

Well, now that’s all we have left.
