Russian history is pretty fascinating,and I am by no means an expert,but go back 100 years and see what they accomplished..it is pretty impressive.the origins of the cold war are equally interesting.
*hint* it wasn't the binary,good/evil story we were spoon fed.a lot of moving parts to that story.

You are the one using the phrase "Cold War." Russia is not our friend, by any stretch of the imagination. But, I don't see a return to the "cold war." Their core values have not changed much over the years. Our country's core values remain constant. The values of our two countries remain incompatible. For example, we still oppose invading another country to take real estate.

I was there, and no we never praised Russia and communism. That is what the John Birch Society said. But, find a quote from Kennedy, Humphrey or the Democrats of the so called "Cold War" years that conforms with what you allege. Obama recognized the reality that we were not going to war with Russia, over Ukraine. And, the Republicans attacked him for being weak, at the time.

I have a dear friend who has Downs Syndrome, who would tell you how much it hurts to hear the word "retarded." You are either ignorant of its common use as a put down for challenged people, or you don't care. Either way, I encourage you to find another word to use in its place.

I have always stood for America and against our adversaries. I was raised that way by a real Republican. America's opposition to the aggression of Russia and their repession of the people they rule did not change until January of 2017. I know that they still share Kruschev's positions. My friends who make up the considerable community of Russians who have immigrated to our city over the past decade or so reinforce my observations. Up until recently, they argued that I should join the Republicans with those of them who became citizens. Many have left the party, recently. I no longer hear good things about the Republican's Russia policies from these people.
