Hysteria? Guess we have different definitions of that. The US government is practically the only one on the planet that's not taking climate change seriously. Virtually ever scientific organization inside or out of government on the planet, including in the US, that is in a position to intelligently comment is taking it seriously. Property insurance companies are started to take future sea level rise into account when insuring buildings along the coast, and professional organizations like ones for city planners are also. The Pentagon sure is, they have factored climate change into their long term defense projections for at least five years now. Really, the only ones that aren't taking it seriously are certain dimwitted individuals in the Excecutive Branch. You know, when you're in a room full of people and everyone else is saying X is true, and you're saying, no, Y is true, the odds are pretty damn good that you're the one that's wrong.
