She's going to ruin Canada's healthcare system? How's she going to do that?

Oh well, because you know a couple people that must discount any study found on the internet. Of course, you think we've got the best healthcare in the world so what the f**k do you know? We're only rated something like 13th of all developed countries so keep defending our failed system.

I can agree with that.

The system is only part of the problem. The entire talking point is being missed. They are trying to limit the growth of cost. We need to dramatically cut the cost we already have! The next country in line only pays half per capita for healthcare as we do. We are spending way too much and need to find solutions to at least half the cost. Outcome based care or something.

Are you dumb?

We can have shitty healthcare and still have people living in 3rd world countries being shot at, trying to get it!

Jesus Christ.

People ONLY travel to the USA if there's a specific specialist they really need to see - that one clinic for that one kind of cancer nobody else seems to be good at solving.

That is REALLY niche, though, and it's only something that wealthy people can do. Overwhelmingly, though, medical tourism goes the other way. Once you've bought your air fair and accommodation, and paid the medical costs, you've still spent maybe a third at most of what your health insurance would have charged you out of pocket.

NOBODY goes to the USA to save money. They go there if they have the cash to drop on that extra special treatment, but again, that is a niche thing.

Stupid meme. If you're not a citizen of a foreign nation how do you expect to fly there and be served on their citizen based healthcare?

I don't think the issue is being treated as a foreigner. Canada and the UK will just treat you and be like "yeah, don't worry about it." The flaw in the meme is more that by the time you fly to another country, you've pretty much missed your window of opportunity.

Yup, got a point.

You are more likely to survive a heart attack in the UK, Australia, Sweden, France, and Switzerland, among other places, than you are in the USA.

Not even close on the number of outlets. Also, too many other factors in survival rates to call this definitive evidence.

If we're still talking about surviving a heart attack, time to emergency medical response is the factor that matters the most by a huge margin. So if the USA is lagging in that respect, that's half the argument right there.

Harvard School of Medicine estimates that 45,000 US citizens die from lack of access to healthcare every year. That is a piss poor record for a supposed safety net.

I've broken a hand, foot, ribs, numerous various stitches and concussions, throat surgery ×2 and two open heart surgeries in my 48 yr life. Not a dime charged to me. Getting tv in my room was the expensive part. How much to give birth to a child in your state?, my buddy just paid $35. for a private room.

Funny you should mention that. The United States Department of Agriculture reported 12.3 percent of American households remain food insecure in 2017.
