If we’re only talking about buying something, then I would want to buy a home that had a view of the mountains and a body of water (a river, a lake, the sound). That’s our end goal, so I would definitely buy it outright if I could. And it would be big enough to accommodate our family coming to live with us, or maybe buy the surrounding land/houses so that they could live nearby... Yeah, nearby and not WITH us is probably better. :-)
