Wanting to change your country for the better is normal patriotic thing to do. Both Democrats and Republicans want to change their country for the better, but they have fundamentally different philosophies on how to do that.

As much as I disagree with Republican politics, I would never accuse them of hating America, and it is offensive for you to say that about the left.

normally the right uses "left" and "Democrats" interchangeably. I would disagree with your characterization of some of those Republicans as left. However, I must say I do agree with you somewhat that many politicians on both sides of the political divide care more about power. Not sure who are referring to when you saying "fundamentally transform", did someone actually say that? Is there nothing that you wouldn't want to fundamentally transform?

The didn't have the political power to pull it off. Also if the law was evenly applied like it should have been, it would have ended slavery earlier. But it was said that all men being created equal didn't mention blacks, so it didn't apply.

I have heard that Jefferson's original draft of the Declaration of Indepedence included a phrase that would have abolished slavery.

Ending slavery wasn't a transformation of America. All they really did was extend basic human rights to blacks. America has always stood for justice and freedom. Well, until recently.

The Emacipation Proclamation only freed slaves in the Confederacy. It was a war tactic more than anything else. Former slaves were not treated well.

It helped keep Britain from helping the south, as at that point they had abolished slavery themselves. It might have also of helped recruit blacks as soldiers as well.

just because the law allowed blacks and other minorities to vote on paper does not mean that society allowed them too. there were also other barriers preventing minorities and specifically blacks from voting.

nothing is perfect but trying to reach the impossible notion of perfection by rebuilding and reform shows a love for whatever you are trying to make perfect. a coach doesn't acknowledge a player he doesn't care about. some people left and right do fit into what you are talking about but most are working to care for the things they love and one of those things is america

in my opinion you just have a dim view on society. yes there are people who want to change america for the worse and there are those with extreme views but to say reform only is destruction is a stretch.

so correct me if i am wrong but what i am seeing is that you are saying humanity is evil because it has temptations, is selfish, and can easily stray towards the wrong and that reform created by the left is corrupted because they have these traits and also have bad intentions and want to hurt our great country. My question is, is the left and not the right the only ones who possess these traits? And is the reform that the right wants also corrupted? Or is it because the left wants reform and the right just wants things to stay the way they are and because the left pushes it onto the right, does that then make it corrupt and self centered.

by the way i agree with you with the humanity is evil part. especially with the world today.
