i'm still lost on why it costs so much out there, other than it seems everything is more expensive in CA. just for comparisons, how much is a bottle of Rittenhouse there? it's about $35 here.

It's true, everything costs more in general out here. I'm wondering if they were factoring in production costs from KY to here and passed it onto us the buyers.
Rittenhouse is also around $35, but of course, I haven't seen it in the store anymore lately

if that were true then y'all couldn't afford bourbon period since 95% of it is made in KY (although it doesn't have to be made there)...i dunno, but i'm glad you got a bottle to try. it's one of my favorites to be a mid shelf bottle. they make a rye as well but i haven't tried that one yet, same bottle just with a dark red label instead of the cream colored one on the bourbon.
