Senator Walsh in Washington was reluctant to pass a bill giving nurses breaks because “they probably just sit around playing cards all day” - and yes, it infuriated me - the bill passed without her help and for once I can get behind the Democrats on this. :-)

My sister is a nurse; she is always saying how understaffed her floor is, which translates into overworking the existing nurses. I had not heard about Sen. Walsh's comment, because I've been trying to stay out of the news as much as possible 😆

People are only taking a fraction of that quote. In reality, she was actually talking about the emergency hospitals that handle the outskirts and how they CAN'T do that since they have too much work

TRUE STORY: A number of years ago I was taking a CPR class and one of the things that's important is the timing between compressions.

As is common, the nurse teaching it said, "You can use the song Staying Alive for the timing."

She then said, "Another One Bites the Dust also works ... but don't let anyone hear you singing it!"

My sister is a nurse, and in training that's what they told her, too

Ach so! Ich bin nicht deutsch, aber ich mag Rammstein. Ich komme aus die Niederlande und Rammstein ist auch beliebt hier. :)

Since my German ain't that good, I'll go on in English. I won't call myself a "fan" but every now and then I listen to Rammstein with a lot of pleasure, but I can tell you that Rammstein does have some Dutch fans. And I can even tell you that Frans Bauer (who is a famous singer in the Netherlands) even covered "Du hast" (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sSbVjvo_UOE), which is totally NOT his genre (and trust me, when listening to his version, you can easily tell).

In the case of these comment thread I guess the lyrics need to be adapted to "Du hast mich gefragd un ich habe es dir gesagt" :P

But I can tell you Rammstein does have some fame outside of Germany. Their fame even lead to the false story that the theme song "Otherworld" from the RPG game "Final Fantasy X" was performed by Rammstein. Like I said that story was false, since Rammstein was never involved in the production of that game in any way, but some Final Fantasy fans still believe it to be true.

For some reason I like "Sonne" very much, and their newest song "Deutschland" did capture my attention. Since my German is pretty sucky I could only understand half of the lyrics, but the parts I did understand, did grab me.

Oh and I like "We're all living in Amerika, Amerika ist wunderbar", as a nice way to show us how the U.S. influences the entire world. "Du hast" is also a song I like. And some how I think the German language combines better with this genre than the English language. Maybe that's just a silly idea ;)
