Queen Hillary | DID YOU IGNORE MY SIGNS | image tagged in queen hillary | made w/ Imgflip meme maker
Before the election, it was crystal clear that Hillary set up her private email server to avoid detection of her grifting via FOIA requests. I’m not saying that Trump’s character is any better, just that Hillary’s was out in the open prior to votes being cast, so there is no moral high ground for anyone that chose her over Trump.

Politically speaking (and moral character aside), she was the most qualified candidate for president that I can ever recall. If it wasn’t for that (FOIA dodging) and the coverup that was obvious to those paying attention at the time, I might have voted for her.
Oops...did I actually just say that? We all had to pick our poison.

So if you didn’t vote for her, did you vote for Trump, or just punt?

imgflip.com/i/11vb6i I made this during the primaries. I never thought I would vote for him. There is a lot to not like about him, but I’m mostly good with his policies, especially compared to the policies being pitched by the left.
Thank you for not being the one to push Hillary over the top :)

you will notice that I tend not to adhere to a party.

4 times voted the most corrupt congressman, yet has the nerve to screech impeachment 24/7.

You don't think it's everyone's problem that 7.5% of GDP - and rising - is tied up in a debt for which it is legally impossible to file for bankruptcy?

You can't think of ANY wider ramifications of that on, say, the finance sector?

No it's not "everyone's problem". The people who took out the loans did so freely. They received an education in exchange. It's their responsibility, not society's.

You're not listening to me, probably intentionally: I didn't say one word about assigning blame or responsibility. So one more time, and ONLY one more time, the question was, can you think of any macroeconomic impact that we might all be worried about of having a twelfth of the economy unable to participate as consumers? No blame, no responsibility, just what are the effects and will it affect us all?

"You don't think it's everyone's problem". Again these are your words.

Yes I can see the macro implications of the level of debt on students. Clearly, I see the issue clearer than Democrats. Who's sole platform on the issue is a government bailout via loan forgiveness. So their solution is to socialize the debt. Which again creates its own macro issues for economy. And creating an issue of moral Hazzard.

Once again we see that you presume somebody isn't listening to you. Which isn't the case, it's just that your question, as usual, was poorly thought out.

Well, as always, the thread is on public record and I am ready to be judged.

Not that anyone appointed me as arbiter, but I think you both have valid points. A generation of people took out loans that their chosen careers couldn't hope to pay off. A text book case of piss-poor decision making.

That said, the consequences of their decision making are having a wider impact on all of us through a depressing effect on the economy. The effects of their debt limit what our economy can achieve. An obvious example of a matter that isn't your fault or responsibility, but you that have to deal with nonetheless.

$1.5T is a big problem, but the national debt is a bigger one. Student loan debt may be a problem for all of us, but that doesn't mean that Chase or any other bank has a greater responsibility to solve the problem than anyone else.
