My understanding of "deep state" is that, like everything else in English, it has multiple meanings. Some folks assign this label to critics of the Trump admin. Others use it to describe a finance, industry and govt hybrid that effectively rules the country. This is basically a summary from Wikipedia, and not intended to be comprehensive. Wiki is a starting point, not an ultimate source.
Anyway, whether or not some people are paranoid about the deep state I think depends on how you're defining it. Big pharma, the 2008 Mortgage crisis fit 'deep state' pretty well, IMO.
Whether the level of criticsm faced by the Trump admin, is evidence of a deep state is unproven, in my mind. That said, the chop logic that the Democrats have been using for three years to fight Trump reeks of desperation and obstruction of the functioning of government.
If my (political) memes didn't languish unapproved, there would be no need for me to express myself with so many words. Perhaps we need to consider the IMGFLIP deep state.
