I have seen good people become vulgar,trash spewing monsters when talking about someone who may identify as a different political affiliation.

I was called a traitor for having the audacity to question the Iraq war narrative.
I have been ridiculed for criticizing the Obama administration.
and recently I have been accused of being a "putin puppet",a "useful idiot" and a man of low intelligence for daring to ask for evidence of "Russian collusion".

I have seen "conservative" and "liberal" become dirty words,and weapons of accusation to hurl at anybody who disagrees.the hypocrisy is so thick with arrogance and hubris..yet the people who fling these terms as pejoratives can never clearly define the very words they are using to disparage.

my country has become enthralled with the cult of personality and spectacle.
where vulgarity trumps open discussion,and people wallow in their own filthy pig pen of un-deserved self righteousness.

while it may entertain me,i must admit to a very deep sadness in witnessing this cultural downfall.

I totally agree with you. One of the "casualties" of all of this is a large chunk of the population lost their sense of humor and the ability to look at themselves honestly. Worse, they turn on those trying to show them that there is a problem and that they desperately need help.
Instead of being relieved that the President isn't a Russian agent, they've gotten even meaner and nastier because they were duped by the MSM and the DNC and don't want to admit it. And, they're convinced that if they did admit they were wrong, the rest of us would point and laugh at them because they pointed and laughed at us.
I just want my country to heal.
