yeah, me too... weird thing is, it doesn't even use the best fit sometimes and even pulling in the edges doesn't help... I'd love to know the reason if there is one. I bet it's really interesting, actually.

forcing a linebreak in a given position doesn't exist imho (or I haven't found out so far).
but you can shift a linebreak towards a desired position via the space key.
Or prevent a line from breaking in a given position.

I use an Android phone most of the time I'm on Imgflip. I haven't customized my Gboard settings yet, which may hold the key for me to achieve desired linebreak positions within a single caption box.

Could be that a site upgrade will come and the enter key or return key will create linebreaks in a caption box after that.

I read the stream description/Posting Requirements for your new stream. Personally, I think the name of your stream and description are against the Terms of Use.

I'd like to think I get along with most users on Imgflip. Along the way, there have been a few users that rubbed me the wrong way. Not many, and it seems like most of them either left Imgflip or became inactive. When I come across a user who rubs me the wrong way I simply try to ignore them.

I've seen users apply the term troll to someone they disagree with, that happens. Users have called me a troll in the past. I think once or twice it was to try and cajole me into joining up in their cause against so-and-so. I'm not saying you have called me a troll or would call me a troll, just that it's a term that might be incorrectly used sometimes.

A long time ago before I became a moderator, I learned not to let users drag me into their battles against other users. It's not healthy and wholesome. The dark side it is.

It can be done.

Method 1:
one textbox per line break (trivial)

Method 2:
to affect the line break within a single textbox:
use extra spaces of equal number at the beginning AND at the end of the shorter part of the text
eg. instead of:
"You are my sunshine, my dear"
you may enter :
"You are my sunshine,          my dear          "

Method 3: (best)
there's an ASCII character called 'non-breaking-space' or &nbsp which is a blank character but does not allow a line break.
the ASCII code is 255
type <Alt>255 to enter it by keyboard
that is: hold the <Alt>-key pressed while typing the number ON THE NUMBERS/ARROWS BLOCK on the right of the keyboard.

Method 2 is how I usually do it but it's still annoying... especially if it's not just two lines but four or more - involves some juggling of spaces. I might try out method three though. But since I'm usually on phone I might have to copy it out of some text or something to get the character at all... we'll see. Thanks anyways. 😊

I'm positive those codes can be entered on a phone as well.
Just check out your system software help manual.

my experience: 3 lines in a textbox is the most that works well.
If you have 4 or more lines of text better add another textbox.

How about also allowing different inline fonts, colors, size and shadows. Some effects are quite tedious to pull off since every variance requires a new text box.

I agree. I suggest using a carat (which programmers also call "hat"), since pretty much no one ever uses that. Or perhaps the "back-apostrophe": ` But I think the carat would be better because it's harder to overlook and it won't get confused with the regular apostrophe.

I sometimes can position the break by adding spaces. You can add spaces at the end of the text and they can help position the break.

Well, there already is a symbol for line breaks on every keyboard in the world... I just don't understand why it doesn't work as it should. But if using a different symbol entirely is what it takes.. 🤷🏽‍♀️ fine with me too.

It's not about keyboards, it's about character codes. Linux uses one code for "line end" and Windows uses a different one. Pretty much all subroutines that ask for user input ignore carriage returns unless the routine is specifically to get data for a "memo" data type.

but neither works as of now... so they would have to implement it anyway and since it's just text I think it would be more intuitive to keep to what regular people who are not programmers know 🤷🏽‍♀️

People wouldn't need to be programmers. They could just be told "Use a carat to make a line break:
My Name^
My Street^
My City"

we can talk about color and font later, but a line break is literally part of everybody's keyboard... I just want all my keys to work like they should... 😅
