I'm not easily offended. You almost have to try really hard. This picture (not your meme) and the idea that these two engaged in this is offensive to me. As a therapist, I have concerns about this man's parenting, and the potential for lasting harm to the boy. And where is his mother?

that's right.
I read and saved this article about half a year ago - thinking about making a meme on this subject but I restrained with it because it's so sad and the moment didn't feel right.
(link above)
It was but for this meme-comment that I recollected the matter.

Only one group gets blamed for slavery when there were 3 groups involved.
4 ups, 6y,

Yeah, but mainly it was whites in America. People shouldn't be blamed for it now at all though.

Yes, the majority were white due to the fact that the majority of the population who owned property were white.

However, there were also black slave owners in the United States who owned black slaves. And there were also whites who owned white slaves. And it isn't any group of people today with the exception of whites who get chastised for it.

Not sure what you're getting at. So it was just white Christians that captured, sold, transported, sold and then owned slaves?

What about the Barbary slave trade? Or the Muslim slave trade where they castrated their slaves and where that still happens currently in Libya?

There aren't many Moslems in the US who go back to those days, let alone are descended from slave owners.

There ARE Moslems in the US today that arrived more recently, and do have to contantly deal with being held accountable for dead terrorists who are obviously not them because they're dead.

Did you think there are none on this site? They conceal it because they don't want have to deal with the repercussions. I've called some out in the past, but rather leave them be now because I'm not doing any good pestering them about their private business.

I wasn't including Muslims in the 3 groups that participated in the Atlantic slave trade. Those were Christians, Jews and Africans. Only Christians/whites get guilted about it.

I don't think anyone should be blamed for the actions of their ancestors. I don't agree with Islam but I don't think anyone should feel guilt or shame if they are against the most radical extremists in their group, be it Muslims, Christians, Jews etc but I understand why they would feel that way with certain trolls here.

Yup. Owned slave ships, some slave markets were closed on Saturdays and 40% of Jews in America owned slaves. Not that there were alot of Jews at that time. Don't hear much about that, huh?

Yeah no - African slaves were captured by their own people (usually after a tribal conquest) and sold in slave markets (that still exist today).

Not to mention the fact that there were nearly 4,000 black slaveholders..

Slavery is wrong. Period.
White people weren't the only ones doing it either.

and Many of those 1.6% "Slave owners" were family members buying their family members too.
I am from Pa, where many people would buy "Slaves" not for "slavery" sake but to get around loopholes. If a free man was caught down south with no "Owner" he would often be thrust back into slavery. If someone else(good person, family etc) "Owned" him he could not be taken by a southern slaver. Kinda like a car title, unfortunately.

My Bff's uncle was caretaker for a famous "Quaker meeting house and cemetery" and there was a lot of "Underground railroad" ppl buried there. (we accidentally set it on fire as kids, story 4 another time)

Many "Underground railroad safe houses" "Stops" were in fact "Quaker meeting houses"
The Quakers were vehement abolitionists .

People like Thaddeus Stevens (Tommy lee Jones character in "Lincoln") Purchased "slaves" freedom and are counted in the 1.6%

The late Great , Best defensive lineman ever "REGGIE WHITE" would buy "child slaves" in Africa b4 he died to give them with good homes in the USA much like some slave owners of the past.

do you know what 1.6% of 31,443,321 is? More than 500.000

It's not that the number wasn't high, it's how well modern day education blew it way out of proportion, even for something as serious as slavery.

By "number" here, I meant "count," not the representation of the percentage. Again, I neither support nor condone slavery. I'm just mad at how American History Education™ blew it up so big, like it was the next biggest thing next to the Revolution itself. We cool? Cool. If not, let me know how I may expound further.
