i agree with the sentiment,but i feel it is vital we keep things in perspective.
history is a great indicator of social patterns and political norms.100 years ago we weren't under a two party duopoly,but there were multiple parties,who had to form coalitions to get things done.
just the other there was a discussion on this site where some were actually trying to make the argument that hitler and the Nazi party were left-wing socialists.
when we do not do our due diligence,the radical ideologues will always attempt to revise history to better fit their narrative and/or philosophy.
both the republicans and democrats have experienced ideological shifts,this is normal,and pointing out that Lincoln would have been considered a fantastic liberal is not a slight against a republican,nor a glorifying of "liberal".
ideas,philosophy and politics change.even the words we use change.
so when i see someone post something to smear their political opponent by dredging up a history that no longer even exists.
i am gonna call them out.
