Firstly... Agreed. There are many on the far, far right who say this. But there are lots of sensible folks as well. Thomas Friedman has even pointed out the power of the Israeli lobby.
In fact there's a pretty good documentary floating around on the edges of the internet called "The Lobby". It was made by Al Jazeera - and killed by pressure from Zionist powers. It was killed, not because it was filled with bigotry - but facts.
Personally I stopped using the term "anti-Semitism" a long time ago. It is a linguistic trap. Palestinians are a Semitic people. But who calls Benjamin Netanyahu an "anti-Semite"? I prefer a more nuetral term - like bigotry - because it doesn't prejudge and redefine reality in the same way.
I've seen peaceful protestors against Israeli atrocities (many of them jewish) - physically attacked by Shelly Rubin and the JDL - right in front of the Simon Weisenthal Center's beefy security guards - apparently with their blessing. So I am highly skeptical, of the claims of Zionists, towards respect for Democracy, and human rights.
Money has an impact on politics - that's why people hire lobbyists. AIPAC, Sheldon Adelson, Haim Saban, and other prominent figures, all have an inordinate amount of influence upon the American political process. I'm looking at a copy of the JEWISH JOURNAL (of Greater Los Angeles, or Greater ISRAEL - it doesn't say) by TRIBE MEDIA CORP.. Flipping through its pages, one will see the powerful and influential lobbying forces, that are dedicated to the Zionust project - but not a word about Neturei Karta. The Cover story this week - "FIGHTING ANTI-SEMITISM - After decades fighting crime in L.A., Elan Carr is named U.S. Special Envoy to Monitor and Combat Anti-Semitism". You notice we have no "Special Envoy" to combat Bigotry. Nor do we have any Special Envoy(s) to combat Anti-Palestinian warcrimes, or a to combat Imperialist aggression and warcrimes. Just the opposite...we just had Eliott Abrams put onto our 'Coup detail' for Venezuela - a policy supported by both the UK, and Israel, it seems.
All Rep. Omar did was acknowledge that fact. Frankly - that takes tremendous 'balls', or chutzpah... And I support her 100% - evem if she's made a strategic withdrawal from her entirely correct remarks.
