Don't all restaurant workers make less than minimum wage? Isn't that legal because they are tipped employees?
9 ups, 6y
Not all restaraunt workers get tips. Mainly just the waiters. The others get at least minimum wage.

Just because you never leave your mom's basement, you still need to be educated you ignoramus.
3 ups, 6y
Golly gee willickers, cappie pulled a standard "mommy's basement" despite the SALT II Treaty.
The pain, the pain.

Speaking of mommy's basement....
Not the best image, but you can make out the prices and the first couple of lines? Both are from within the last 5 years, and the + $1 one is two years old. Check them out now for current prices if you will, and to see if that price increase, or whatever has happened since, cost them their customers.

Next week I might be passing by Honey Thai's. I'll scoop up a new one to compare with the old if you want.

Moron.

Since you never leave the comfy confines of your gaping anus, I did your homework for you.

And yes, they still haven't closed.

How's that for an education?

Google "Queens," comrade and learn how "bad" it really isn't.

How blind does Putin keep you? The Bronx has a worldwide rep as the baddest town in the Civilized World. You kids emulate Bx Ghetto Hard for a reason, not because Jamaica Estates or Forest Hills are too wat too slummy for you, homie boi.

Sure thing DrStrange.

With eel sauce? Oh hell no.

"FightingUntruth
C'mon now, that savory eep sauce would go good with that smoked salmon. Besides, you got to eat something with the name of city, it's like a rule or something. It actually sounds like a "Philly" roll with the cream cheese. I seriously bet that's good."

Well the Mayflower roll has eel sauce also, plus other delectible delights the Pilgrims consumed with great relish en route to these shores. Eastchester Bay isn't far. Grab one, head to the shore, and get misty Smithsonian style.

hate to break it to ya bub, but I work as a janitor at a truckstop/ diner

the waitresses get below minimum wage cause on a good day they get 80 dollars for 4 hours of work due to tips

I work minimum wage and get 80 bucks a day and have 8 hour work shifts

so in reality, the waitresses are better off than I am.

Nothing of your post is 'obvious.' There is no evidence to suggest that any of it is even accurate.

It's true that things are more expensive in RatHeaven. If you are unhappy about that, maybe you should consider moving to another "Bastion of Liberty."

The menus are pretty much self explanatory, but here you are with more jealousy after it seemed you were becoming more civil.

Sad, yet, dare I say, curiously enjoyable.

I try to avoid attacking the person. Arguments are fair game.

You have provided no proof that that the OP and 'the chorus' are lying.
You have provided no proof that 'None of them even know anyone who's ever worked in a restaurant.'
4 ups, 6y
Equally no proof for either of your other two assertions.

As for the menus, are those a fair sample? Surely there are more than two restaurants, there.
2 ups, 6y
Your 2nd part leans towards the former.

Restaurant staff get their main pay from tips, they're paid below minimum (as two others here have also stated, one who thought he was contradicting me, no less), and off the books to boot.
Prices go up slightly as they always have, people haven't stopped going. Just another day in Da Big City.

As for millenials, the trust fund gentrifiers already love paying ridiculous prices for 'artisan' tacos topped with quinoa, goat cheese & mango chutney and Ramen soup made in places owned by people named Henderson from Ohio.

The real NYC millenials got their allowance or work for theirs and go for the real stuff at cheap prices, so no biggie.

Give it two years.

The profit margin in small restaurants and fast food establishments is fairly low to begin with. I remember being manager for a Fox's Pizza back in the day. It was a weekly fight to keep wages from overtaking profit. If someone told me to double the wages, the fight would've been over. There would have been no way to keep the doors open without raising the prices across the board, something the Chain wouldn't allow. Then you have to take into consideration whether someone would pay for the increased price in food. If you take that concept and expand it across all financial sectors, then the prices of goods, either go up or people get laid off, or both. It's math at the end of the day.

Employers don’t have an unlimited supply of funds to pay their employees with. The more expensive human labor becomes, the more feasible it is to replace them with machines.
4 ups, 6y
I've always found it laughable that those who favor these types of wage increases seem to think that businesses will just accept reduced profits. They can't. Even large corporations like McDonald's have shareholders they are responsible to. And whose stock do you think your penxions and 401K's are invested in? It's not all tech.
