How effective would you say a wall is at keeping illegals out?

Don't know for sure, but I believe it would be more effective than what we have now. Plus, the countries that do have walls on their borders have reported surprisingly high success rates.

I wonder how the border patrol feels about it... Seems the more effective the wall is at keepin em out, the less necessary the border patrol agents are. Might be some layoffs... Maybe they could do whatever jobs the undocumented people wouldve done.

From what I have heard, the Border Patrol is all in favor of the wall. It makes their job easy and less dangerous. I don't think they are concerned about losing their jobs.

I remember being in Cali when a case about two border patrol agents going to court for shooting a known illegal drug dealer in the butt when he resisted arrest and took off running. There where people outside the courthouse in favor of the illegal immigrant shouting "this is Mexico". The illegal drug dealer won the case, both border patrol agents got 10 years in prison. One of those birder patrol agents had a new born kid and if memory serves me right both are latino descendants. Moral of the story here is, you and many do t give a flying fck about border patrol agents. You are just using them to try to win your argument. The problem us that what you are bringing to the argument is very weak since having a wall does not mean that border patrol will loose their job, it will just make their job safer and easier and prevent them from having those bad situations that those two border patrols had.

Unless the illegals have planes, a properly manned and garrisoned wall would be darn near impenetrable. History have countless examples proving this. From walls to castles to bunkers. Any sort of "obstacle" will slow or stop the enemy.
Except for the Maginot line, the Germans simply avoided it. So it's got to be long enough to be effective, obviously.
