The problem is that every American made product has the cost of the welfare state embedded in it, making us less competitive compared to foreign made products. I say we move the taxes to all products sold, so all products sold in the us help fund our welfare state, instead of only American ones.

We, the scorned engines of business value in the majority of the economy, and not "government," ARE what you cal "the rest of us." Obama said the same thing, if you created a small business with your own blood sweat and tears, "you didn't build that." 



Bull. The milieu in which it happened, infrastructure, did not come from the "government," it came from OTHER tear-stained hard working Americans, that according to Obama (I'm starting to increasingly have second thoughts about my votes for him now and then) never built anything. It's not labor versus capital, it's socialist idiots against the small-business, middle-class, REAL employers. 



THAT is who paid to educate workers, etc. 



Only an idiot who never was responsible for a business - meaning most incompetent politicians - could even think (if you could call it that) like Warren does. 



Government does not create value. It TAKES value FROM people, redistributes it (often at the high cost of graft and stupendous inefficiency), and then audaciously claims that it and not THEY was the source of the productivity or value or benefit to society in the first place. 



Jokeahontas has it 180 degrees exactly backwards.

I'm not saying there's zero implied obligation. But part of the reason I left the Democratic Party is their density on this subject. They argue the socialist lie that businesses exist at the pleasure of the government and owe their existence to it, so therefore they better toe the line to it or else. 



Wrong. GOVERNMENT owes ITS existence to the PEOPLE. It owes its existence to them, and so IT better toe the line to them, or else. 



Every cop, every teacher, every public sector agent owes his or her existence to the PRIVATE sector. Not the other way around.

I can't imagine you seriously believe that of even a majority of Republicans. 



I know a hard-working but rabidly Trump-hating far-left small businessman who, if he had been in the room with Obama when he made that outrageous "You didn't build that" statement, would have thrown a punchbowl in his face. 



And if she had said his business was all "because of the work the rest of us did" instead of him and to a lesser degree his staff, he'd have probably lost it and body-slammed her socialist ass like it deserved too. 



And he still doesn't get it yet. But keep it up, Dems - and at some point he probably will.

Nobody said "all". It's not either - or. The moneys already been gathered and spent. I, as in tax paying citizens, helped pay for the roads your friend used to build his business. How fast would your friend's business close if there weren't any roads? And that's just the roads. It doesn't include everything else I paid for your friend to succeed. 



It doesn't negate the work he did or the sacrifices he made. It just points out that everybody benefits when taxes pay for infrastructure. I'm also the reason his insurance is so cheap. It's awfully arrogant to think anyone did anything with out benefitting from what the rest of us helped pay for.

My point was it's largely others like he, not you, who paid for most of those roads. 



Plus the fact you have the second part backwards. He's probably paid more taxes in a few years than you will in your entire life.
