It was mainly Trumps speech that was political.

The purpose of visiting the troops is to increase moral, ask them if they need anything, talk about them. It is no time to behave like you're on the campaign trail and make it all about yourself. Trump always has this problem. He just can't help himself.

Yeah....troops brought their own hats and asked him to sign them...therefore he did. If you didn't watch the whole video, it looks like he was firing them up pretty good. I'm in the room right now with a Marine who sums it up nicely. The Marines are almost 100% Trump. They are, however a little peeved that Mattis is leaving. And...I don't know where you picked up the "Handbook for Visiting Troops" but maybe you could share its contents with the rest of the world. Otherwise explain why the President has to oblige himself to the dictates of you or anyone else when he decides to visit the troops. Also, you may just want to go back and watch how Obama did the same thing while receiving no criticism from MSM or leftist politicians. Every time Obama went abroad, he turned it into a political scene, and that's o.k., because he was the President and had that right. Didn't matter if everyone didn't agree with it.

You guys are all the same. You talk the big talk, totally against minorities, their rights and their PC speech, yet do NOTHING but cry, bitch, and complain when you feel the least bit slighted. It's really quite pathetic. The biggest bunch of whiners and complainers are the GOP sheeple, so upset their antique, white privilege is somehow being tossed aside and others have the same voice. Just STFU already with your bitching and moaning about life not being fair. You guys are supposed to be the ones who can make it on your own with no help from others.

Sorry, I'm not the one crying about unfairness. And you call people on the left snowflakes? Grow a pair. There isn't a single thing anyone or any President can do to keep me down.

When did I do that?

I think the argument is that Trump wasn't signing the troops personal items but that Trump, or someone in his administration, brought those hats himself and handed out those signed items.
Thus making it a political campaign.

Yes, they made that accusation. Now that they found out the hats were indeed personal items, the media is claiming the troops broke rules by having them. They just can’t resist trying to find fault in everything this president does. It’s sad, really.

And that is offset by those making excuses for everything 45 does. Like he is infallible and without sin.

The difference is, the MSM made the excuses for Clinton and Obama. They don’t even try reporting news anymore. It’s all just anti-Trump propaganda anymore.
6 ups, 6y
Trump did call them, the enemy of the people. That was after the news called him out on a handful of his lies that cannot be counted any other way than as lies.

He's pretty easy to hate, being another good reason too. Yeah, they are pretty down on him. Much, much, less than Faux News was down on Obama for the slightest of offenses.

While in Iraq, Trump stated that he had given service members a 10% raise and that they hadn't got a raise in 10 years.. both of which were false.

Is reporting on this falsehood (and all the others he has made) anti-trump propaganda?

When it’s laced with suggestions that he distributed pro-Trump hats to the troops so he could sign them - yes. Why not just report on the pay raise facts and leave it at that? It’s like justified criticism just isn’t enough. They have to throw as much mud as possible.

I didn't see the article laced with those suggestions but I suppose it's possible.. but I'd also say I could see that hat assumption being made.. (should the news assume anything? No..) but if they were brand new... I mean troops buying and bringing brand new hats with them to iraq in the off chance Trump visits them there and possibly would sign their hats seems kinda... Idk.. unless they knew he was coming in advance.

Or they just had them for fun. And they looked new since they can’t wear them while in uniform.

It is a matter of US Military policy that troops do not engage in political activities while in uniform. They shouldn't have brought hats or signs. They shouldn't have accepted them if Trump handed them out.

Trump, as every other previous Commander and Chief, should have known and followed those policies.

Out of uniform: they can show up anywhere and get whatever signed.
In uniform: apolitical and non-partisan.

Trump tarnishes and diminishes everything he touches.

It's an honor to meet the commander in chief when you're in the military. It's a bonus when it's a POTUS that actually respects the armed forces as well.

Actually the air force already said nothing happened against regs. You guys are retarded acting like you know more than the military itself.
3 ups, 6y
No policy was violated. The news stories say policy “may have been” violated, but it wasn’t.

It’s the MSM that wants to tarnish and diminish everything Trump touches. We all know that if the same thing happened when Obama visited the troops, the press wouldn’t even suggest the possibility that any rules were broken.

That’s the gist of the meme. It’s no secret Democrat presidents are not as popular among the troops as Republican presidents. Troops didn’t seek autographs of Obama campaign stuff because few if any of them had such swag on hand.
