Why does he get to keep his show? White Male Privilege. Duh.

Okay, 2 things: Allen hasn't been funny in decades. DECADES. And his contract was up at the end of the last season and ABC/Disney didn't own the show. So they'd have to pay him more and pay more to have the show. The free market cancelled his show. Why pay more for him when you can get a younger comic at a cheaper rate?

Except the "free market" didn't cancel his show. Sure, his contract was up and renegotiations would have been needed, but it was a solid performer on the otherwise low-ratings Friday night lineup.

The fact is, with the recent rapidly increasing animosity towards those with conservative beliefs, that began after his show was already on the air, the show was canceled because he was a conservative.

And face it, the show was obviously still popular enough that conservative Fox decided to pick it up for at least one more season.

But no, you go and claim "white male privilege" was what saved Baldwin, and not the "liberal blue shield". Obviously "white male privilege" is also what keeps Sarah Silverman working after making homophobic tweets, making racist jokes, and going around in blackface.

Dude, this "fired because he's conservative" just doesn't fly. Because Disney owns ABC. Disney also owns Fox television. So the company you claim fired him for being conservative hired him again...because he's conservative? That makes no sense.
What does make sense? He would cost too much to keep on ABC. They cancelled the show. Then made a significantly lower offer via Fox. They keep the show, the money it generates, and they pay him less.

You do realize, don't you, that this was all accomplished before the Disney/Fox deal, which isn't even in effect yet. The deal doesn't /start/ to close until Jan.1st, 2019, and it's estimated the deal will full close during the first half of 2019.

He is back on so I guess it really becomes a moot point. Eventually the pendulum swings and the fight begins anew.

Not really moot. The point is that white male privilege didn't save him, the free market did.

I don't know why Alec Baldwin is still accepted. Usually people who confess and own what they did, get driven down to the bottom. Those that lie to the end, they survive. Our whole system is backwards right now.

So someone tries to blame so-called "white male privilege", then when all the arguments get refuted and you can't deny facts, you try to turn it around and spuriously claim I'M complaining.

That's the entire freaking point of the discussion though! Whether someone should be fired over a screw-up, be given another chance, or have it be completely swept under the rug and ignored, everyone should be treated the same.

"Claiming" being the key word. "Sexual deviation" isn't a crime (If it were, there wouldn't be ANY left-wing government left to challenge republicans), and I haven't heard anything regarding any evidence on the assault claims.

Good example is the wall. Who cares if it works or not? Why make a federal case over it. Just let it go through. We're spending 350billion on a submarine. What's another 5 billion on our grandchildren?

I'm not sure what it's about. It seems like a strange thing to hang your hat on. It's likely 5 billion isn't enough and I don't think there is an overall full price number yet. Numbers are all over the place in relation to what it would save or not save. Can't believe any of the numbers.

5 Billion is a lot of dough. The military could build two for that much money you would think.

Just heard the new farm bill is 750 billion estimated but will likely be over 1 trillion.

Now it is on the news that we are giving over 12 billion to Mexico. It is evident. They are truly idiots in congress. All of them.
