Liberal: 1.Open to new behavior or opinions and willing to discard traditional values.

With the above being the number one definition of "liberal", I can see why you prefer not to use it for people on the left and want to hijack it for the right. Fits the current administration perfectly.

So you just committed the equivocation fallacy.

Ancient ideologies of power, domination, and control over their fellow man... Sounds like a Republican to me. In the traditional sense. I wasn't thinking too much about liberals who don't seem to have embraced any certain direction yet.

I was thinking more about our President cheating on his 3rd foreign born wife while having a bromance with the leader of Russia who helped get him elected and how Republicans have thrown traditional values out the window to embrace new behaviors and opinions.

Partisan hack nonsense? Trump hasn't cheated on his 3rd foreign born wife along with the other 2 as well? That's proven. Trump didn't have personal interests for his bromance with Putin while running for the presidency? Proven fact again.

I'm happy you can simply slide such traditional American values under the rug so easily. How very liberal of you.

Again, the liberal is changing the subject once beaten. I know how you operate. Deflect when clearly beaten.

Trump's infidelity is directly related to this discussion and your desire to claim liberalism for yourself. You have forsaken traditional American values to follow new ideas. I just can't understand why you are so afraid to let the world know that. Too ashamed? Who knows. Who cares. Stay in your closet as long as you need to. I freely give you the liberal moniker. It's yours.

Oh he did it years ago did he? Only decided to pay for it a month before the election but I can understand how that doesn't bother you with your free thinking, liberal mindset. It must not have anything to do with election fraud like it did with Edwards. Edwards only had 6 federal indictments against him for the very same thing.

Timber the liberal. Edwards was one of those leftist so that must be the difference.

Edwards wasn't found guilty of anything either.

I'm guessing you're rather young, or you would have witnessed the right demonizing the word "liberal" at least since Gingrich. They did such an effective job that Democrats rarely use the word anymore.

I'd rather not call all Republicans deplorables because I know that isn't true any more than anyone can label all dems or left thinking people as any single thing. It's labeling like that which keep us divided and is small minded. Any politician who follows their party lines on all important issues is likely a liar and/or weak. There are plenty of left leaning people who believe in the 2nd amendment and plenty of right leaning people who believe in a woman's right to choose.

Oh, don't get me wrong, I don't consider all those to the left of me to be Libtards. Take someone whom I frequently disagree, but respect: Alan Dershowitz, he is most definitely a Liberal and not a Libtard. But when someone on the left proposes something as insane as abolishing ICE, that's retarded, and they are a Libtard.

You're probably right on abolishing ICE. I'm pretty left but also feel we've got way too much protection against the boogie man from the middle east and spend way too much money when the threat is so small. American's didn't used to be afraid of anything. Now we're a bunch of sniveling cowards hiding under our sofas. At least it seems that way when I have to practically get stripped searched every time I board a plane. Commercial aviation is for poor people now. It's ruined.

Your first sentence there gives me hope. And I don't mean to insult you when I say, maybe you aren't as left as you think you are. Sure, you may be way left on a personal individual level, but the civic attitude present in your post shows me you probably don't favor allowing people to screw naked in the streets in front of elementary schools. And I hate to break it to you, but the primary reason that Americans aren't as brave as they used to be is leftist ideology. Ideology that opposes all corporal punishment. Ideology that tries to stop bullying instead of teaching kids how to handle bullying. Ideology that gives everyone a trophy and doesn't keep score. Is it any wonder that if we coddle kids and protect them from all adversity and thereby prevent them from learning how to deal with adversity that we have a nation of people hiding under couches and in safe spaces?

Not insulted at all but don't quite agree. Corporal punishment hasn't been shown to work. Kids kill themselves every day due to bullying and it's much worse for kids today with social media. Trophy's? Yeah, I agree totally with your thoughts on that!

All the issues you've mentioned, not one of them relates to the ADULTS, who seem so afraid. The argument? we need more protection. Protection from what? I'd rather leave my shoes on, board a plane and take my chances. It's absurd. These laws are created by those we elect who feel they need to do something to make us feel safe. Both sides get way overboard over safety. It almost seems like the older the individual, the more safety they feel we need from the middle east. Since 9/11, on average 6 Americans a year have been killed by foreign terrorists.

Actually, that's untrue. Corporal punishment has been shown to be very effective on children below the age of reason, and should be used less and less as the child's faculties develop. Again, I deny bullying is the problem and instead insist the problem lies in not assisting the child in developing skills to handle bullying. The world is going to bully you the rest of your life. To jump in and deny a child the ability to deal with it is criminal.

As far as relating to adults, it is 100% related. This coward person is what you get when someone has their bullies removed, the opportunity to learn from failing as a child. Now tack in Femnazi's idea that maleness and male behaviour is somehow toxic, and you get a useless adult that relies on everything but themselves to be safe.

So what explains all the old geezers who were beaten as kids but are afraid of their own shadows and so worried about terrorists? It's the main reason Trump was elected. People over 65, voting for him to keep the Muslims out.
1 up, 6y
No, that's just a leftist talking point. The real reason Trump was elected was people were sick and tired of business as usual politicians. and that point was a push among voters. How a potential POTUS would deal with terrorists was pretty much equal between Don and Hill.

As far as why old people are frightened more often. As you age, diminishing physical prowress and lowering of hormones makes self confidence diminish in most people, therefore they become afraid more easily.
