GM creates its own problems by deliberately designing obsolescence into parts used on its vehicles to keep "Mr. Goodwrench" busy. As a company, they deserve to fail because of that crappy ethic. Make products that will last, and the word of mouth alone will make a company prosper. It really is unfortunate that people will lose jobs if GM disintegrates, but that is an issue the employees need to put on the shoulders of GM management, and not blame on President Trump.
Putting pressure on GM will actually help them prosper in the future, *IF* management wakes up and elects to improve their products, and create lasting value for their customers. This same ethic applies to all companies, with the principle of designing cheap "throw away" products being one of the primary reasons their is an accelerating cycle of WASTE, and the mindset of making something that "works for just a little while" is spreading into our society..
The "too big to fail" mentality of Obama was a parachute, and GM missed a perfect opportunity to vastly improve their bottom line by improving their products. They SHOULD NOT receive anymore hand outs..
