Interesting, New York's "class D" commercial license is just like my state's, which is also a "class D" commercial license. As you probably did not know, ALL the classes of so called "drivers licenses" are entirely commercial in legal nature. The "class D" is a commercial drivers license that is not weight specific. Classes A, B, and C commercial licenses are for specific weights of vehicles, whereas class "D" is not weight specific, which is why the public falsely thinks they all need one just to travel in their non commercial automobiles (which are NOT legally the same as a commercial "motor vehicle").
