Funny thing is, he still knows more about science than you do. A lot more, actually...

The thing is that he is used as if he is an expert on things that he is ill informed at. Basically an appeal to irrelevant authority like polls that ask non-climate specialized scientists opinions on global warming.

Does it matter? Plenty of actual climate scientists agree that yes, Global Warming is a thing. It's obvious. They're now arguing about whether people are causing it (or rather, the politicians are. The actual scientists have a consensus on that as well, and yes, people are causing it).

It's used to cast doubt on science and when people that don't know the basics talk as if they are experts it causes misinformation that casts doubt on all.
